Hi Hunnies
One of our wonderful loving cat rescue on Purrs is in trouble and needs some help. Can ya help us help Eight lives left Cat & Kitten rescue?
Lesley's caring for 50 cats a day at the mo, Can you feed an extra one? A collection of £70 will help cover food bills for a week.
We are collecting donations to send a cat food parcel over to Lesley at Eight Lives Left Rescue also with some funds. If you would like to help, please pop a donation through our donation button and a note saying for "Eight Lives left help"
Or direct to Eight lives left rescue vis paypal donations - eightlivesleft.kittenrescue@ntlworld.com
I will let you know what we have raised and what we are sending over to Eight lives.
A bit about Lesley and her rescue Eight Lives left Cat & Kitten Rescue....
Eight Lives Left Kitten Rescue was formed following the unsuccessful handrearing of a very young kitten called "Georgie", a little tabby girl who had been abandoned with her sister outside a local veterinary surgery. Unfortunately, her sister did not survive past the first 24 hours.
Georgie had sustained damage to one of her eyes and, despite six weeks of intensive nursing, the infection finally took over and she had to put to sleep.
I was distraught and vowed that I would not rear any more kittens as it was too heartbreaking. However, two weeks later two kittens were brought to the Veterinary Hospital I worked at suffering with suspected cowpox virus. They were brothers, both tabbies like Georgie and her sister, and one had a badly damaged eye, the same eye as Georgie.
So "George" joined our lives and Eight Lives Left Kitten Rescue was born.

I just wanted to add that i have personally been to Lesley's rescue to adopt my wonderful Marl. Lesley is fantastic and she is sooo dedicated, caring and such a warm hearted woman. She loves the cats so much and does all she can. I am very very pround to know her and support her in all she does.
The following babes are just a tiny few that Lesley has saved and loved through her rescue...
If you can help Lesley and the little one's in her care (50 rescue cats at the moment) at this tough time for her Rescue that would be soo wonderful :thanks:

I actually have some food put by for Leslie, was just waiting for her to get back to me on when would be good for me to pop it over to her, I guess if she is struggling at the moment, she probably hasn't had the chance to get back to me. Would it be easier to send you over a donation to the main care package?
If I can help at all transport wise I'm happy to as I don't live far away.

Hi Hun
Thanks so much :Luv: Totally your choice which ever is the best for you.
-
I've sent some money over through Purrs with a note, I'll try to drop by Leslie's or at least post the food I've got over to her if she's desperate for it at the mo.
I have a friend at work looking to adopt a kitten in a couple of weeks for his family. Maybe I will try to put him in touch with Leslie, I expect an adoption donation and one less mouth to feed would be appreciated at the moment.

I've sent a donation via paypal.

Thanks! I think it originally referred to dogs but OH came across it when we were adopting our two girls and thought it was fitting for the time.

Am I ok to do a bank transfer to the Purrs account?

Hi Tan
Just done the transfer now. It will say the reference is Treasure Hunt because that is how Purrs details are saved on my account! Please can you ignore that because I can't change it. I hope that is ok.

Wow!!! That is amazing!!!! Well done everyone *group hug*
Lesley, I hope it all goes a little way towards helping you with all your current furbabes :D
-
OMG didn't we do well?
Mary
-
wow that is great
-
Excellent - that should keep them going for a while!
-
What an amazing amount to raise in such a short time - Purrs people really are the best :)
The scary thing is that although 1000 pouches and 20kg of dry sounds like a lot of food (and it is a lot of food) it would only last 50 rescue cats just 10 days :scared:

Now your getting an idea of the daily worry involved in rescue

Fantastic news, hopefully this will mean Leslie won't have so much to worry about and can concentrate on looking after her family, furry and human!

It doesn't seem enough but I just wanted to thank everyone for their support, both financial and otherwise, that they have shown over the last few days.
Being in rescue as a one man band can be a very lonely place even with over 50 cats to keep you company. People say what you are doing is wonderful but at times it is all consuming in time and money and emotion. You have no social life, you can't ever go away, even a night out has to be planned; you can never escape from it, even if sometimes you think you want to (and believe me there have been many times like that just lately). I suppose it is made harder by the fact that I am on my own all week with Mike having to work in London all week and only being home at the weekends, too much time to think. I am not taking any more cats in, definitely in the short term, and it will take time to reduce numbers, you can't just say it and they vanish. But you lot have shown me I am not alone. You may not be here with me, but you are there behind me, and you have helped me soo much over the last few days - to see that there are still wonderful people out there.
I'm sorry this is a bit of a rambling, but words cannot express how much you have lifted me. I wish I could hug everyone one of you.

This place is just wonderful!!!!!!!
I'm not working at the moment and so couldn't donate, but SO glad others were able to!
Wonderful, wonderful people!

I'm glad we were able to help you Lesley, and although I can't fully understand how you feel, never having done what you're doing, I can understand how overwhelming and thankless it must feel at times. Hopefully those times are few and far between and that you have a good network of friends you can talk to (apart from us on here of course!).

What a lovely message, Lesley. xxx
