Title: Time share for cats!
Post by: Susanne (urbantigers) on February 18, 2011, 12:59:13 PM
I've cracked it.  A solution to my Mosi problem.  After having little over an hour's sleep last night, I would like to offer up Mosi for time share.  I will take the days and I'd  like someone else to take the  nights.   If you could pick him up at 10pm and drop off back home at 7am that would be great.  Any takers?  ;D

I have insomnia so could handle the night shift :tired: but I suspect it would take me quite a while to walk from Yorkshire to wherever you are (I don't drive).

Right now I'd take anyone.  Last night - went to sleep 4am.  Woke up 5am.  Not a good start to the week!

I am going to have to do something about this but I don't know what.  Normally Mosi sleeps either on the sofa in the living room or on the bed by my legs.  Only occasionally does he snuggle up to me by my pillow, and even then it's usually only for a while and then he moves further down the bed.  I think it's a combination of factors keeping me awake - not being able to get comfortable because of Mosi, not being able to get comfortable in general (my bed is a bit old and really needs replacing), worrying about Mosi bothering Jaffa which  he's started to do and just general not being able to get to sleep.  So Mosi lies there all cute curled up on his side but taking up all the space beneath my pillow.  After an hour or two of that he will go and mither Jaffa so I have to stop him doing that.  Then he gets lively and messes about (which is likely to wake Jaffa) until he settles down in bed with me again, with the same problems!  By now Jaffa is awake so has a noisy, slurpy wash which also keeps me awake as he's  lying close by.  Last night I eventually put Mosi out the back but he's  now started scratching at the door and whining when I do that.  I put him out at 4am and after a short time complaining he did settle down out there but at 5am he started up again.  I eventually let him in after waiting for a gap between whines (shutting him in the living room means that Jaffa is shut out) but I'm sure he thinks he only has to make a noise and I will open the door.

It would all be farcical if I wasnt' so tired.   He looks so cute when he's curled up in bed and I feel  mean putting him out of the bedroom when he hasn't been naughty (time out usually follows naughty behaviour and he knows that).  I wish I could just relax into him and go to sleep but he lies against my face so I have a mouth full of fur and not easy to relax!

I feel your pain cos I am exhausted and just cant stop Franta shouting..............I just dont know what he wants and being woken up every time I have just dozed off is useless.

Now I am up he is curled up on the cat tree bloomin sleeping!

I understand about the fur and Misas fur is coarser and makes me itch.

Franta is moulting and leaving fur where ever he lies which also makes me itch.

And then there are his claws and teeth and I am finding me covered in little scratches.........sigh

 I have insomnia so I feel for you both.  For noise I find wax ear plugs really effective and super comfortable - I've even found just the one beneficial and have converted my parents! I take prescription medication long-term, but the ones you can take short-term can be effective for breaking that cycle of stressing about not being asleep ... If you prefer something natural some people find the herb valerian effective, or there is 5-HTP (related to the amino acid tryptophan).
