Post by: tab on February 09, 2011, 19:53:13 PM
Or is this video really horrible???
I watched it for a short while but is there a cat inside the plastic box?

Ive sent a complaint but am I over reacting?
I know Amber loves boxes but putting the lid on a box which may be air tight but definately stops the cat getting out has to be wrong

Hmmn, the cat didn't seem too bothered and didn't try to get out when they moved the lid. I'm sure it was only done whilst the kitten was playing BUT it sends out totally the wrong message and in general of course it's not OK to put a cat in a box like that. I think what makes it distasteful is that it's shown on the internet which gives stupid people stupid ideas  :shy:

Maybe thats it. I know cats who would freak if confined and its teaching the kitten its ok to attack the cat.
Hard to decide

I agree with you Tab and I couldnt watch it, so never saw the lid being taken off.

As Helen says this is not good to be shown on the internet cos it sends out the wrong message and I think its totally horrible.

I can see why it shouldn't be shown on the internet as there are idiots that get bad ideas, but then that's true of everything that's twisted out of context these days isn't it?

The video does not show either cat in any distress, the cat in the box stays in the box quite willingly once the lid is taken of and doesn't even move when the owner gently starts to tip the box up. The kitten also does not attack the cat out of the box when it has the opportunity. So while it's perhaps misguided it's not showing any cruelty at all.
