Title: Scratching while eating - is this common?

I have noticed that socks scratches at the floor when she eats, it's almost like she would quite like to bury her food - she is nursing kittens at the moment, what is she up to?

Thats proberly what she is ttrying to do so she makees sure she has food later  ;D

Our kittens always do that. If they leave anything they scratch the ground around it as if covering it over! Our other cats have never done that. It is funny  :)

One of our cats used to do it if she didn't like what she was given - we used to say she is telling us it is

Our lad doesn't do it before he eats but always does it before he drinks
