Ive seen videos on YouTube, but I never expected I would live with a cat who drank from taps. This morning, Kieron was rinsing some breakfast bits. Celyn joined him in the kitchen , hopped into the sink and lapped away happily at the running water
I know - I know - this thread is useless without pictures - if we can manage to get some, we will ! :evillaugh:

Every morning while I do my make-up and every time I go for a pee I have either Dave or Chilli jump in the bathroom sink and wait for me to turn on the tap for them :Luv:
-
:Luv2: You mean like this Chris?
-
We have a couple of boys Jester and Wispa who both need a dripping tap in the kitchen and they take turns to sit in the sink whilst tap is dripping
In the cats bathroom I have my sink kids whilst I do the grit boxes I am so glad we aren't on a water metre
-
Kylie does it too - not that she jumps up on the counter much thesedays
-
OMG Chris - Mr T has sent him a message to start drinking but didn't tell him it should be beer ;) :Luv2:
Nice pics Mark and Carol :Luv2: :Luv2:

My cats have never figured out how to do this without getting their whiskers wet, or else Misa would be the one to do it cos he drinks by dipping his paw in a watering can and then sucks his paw ;D
He wont drink out of a dish at all and even have a small watering can on the working top for him
-
I have one that will flick the water at you, especially if it is the cold tap running, such a nice cat I have
Have two others that will drink the running water from the tap as well.
-
That was one of Napkin's habits I had to break her from... I bought her one of those cascading water dish things and she's quite satisifed with that.
-
My Maddy used to do that. :Luv:

:wow: What a GORGEOUS tail! Napkin will be having tail envy. (Or maybe not... she can't possibly miss the tail she never had!)
-
And Toby. We bought a cat fountain specifically because he was so obsessed with running water.....it didn't stop him using the tap. :evillaugh: :Luv:

After posting this, and reading some of the replies, I decided last night to resurrect a water fountain thing I have. Its designed to be ornamental - I bought it years back as a "pretty humidifier" and its been put away for ages. One of those things that sits in a bowl, looks like a rock and bubbles water.
I thought Celyn and Olwyn might enjoy it.
So I dug it out. I reassembled it (with much swearing as the pump didnt want to play!) - put it somewhere safe where if they knocked it over, spilt water could do no harm and ......
Not a glimpse. Not a glance. :tired: They are totally underwhelmed with it
All they have done to it is abandon a toy mouse in the middle of it ......
Ah well, back to the Drawing Board !

Wibbles, no wonder... you forgot the most important step!! You need to take the cats to the fountain and tell them: DO NOT DRINK OUT OF THIS! THIS IS NOT FOR CATS! I REPEAT! DO NOT DRINK OUT OF THIS!! Doing so will certainly make it irresistable to them.

All too true ! :tired:

   and a drowned mouse :evillaugh:

Not taps, but this morning I caught Mosi standing precariously balanced on the edge of the kitchen sink drinking out of the washing up bowl. Just plain water thankfully as I'd been rinsing out my coffee pot. There are 2 bowls of water in the kitchen but he obviously preferred the large one in the sink!
-
Indie sits on the bathroom sink and cries until I eventually cave and turn the tap on  i am such a soft touch :innocent:
-
My friend is an even bigger soft touch - she puts a glass of water next to the sink for her Molly to drink out of

They don't just drink out of taps .... or at least, Celyn doesn't . :tired:
This afternoon, a friend of mine turned up on our doorstep. Hes just lost his job, poor soul, and was a little "tired and emotional" :shy:
I have to say both cats were very well behaved and came to say hello, even though my friend was being rather loud !
We decided it might be a good idea to feed him before he went back home, and while I was preparing a meal, he decided to go and use the loo.
Hes an "untrained bachelor" and when hed finished, left the toilet door open, the seat and lid up.
And I found Celyn happily lapping the water in the toilet bowl
I'm not sure Mr Puss will get his goodnight kiss, tonight !
-
Oh Celwyn
