Hi all i'm soooooo excited i'm off to pick my Bengal baby girl up this evening and can't wait :Luv2:
-
Oh how exciting and of course we need picces, name, rank and serial number ;D
-
;D hope all goes well! keep us updated
-
:thanks: i just hope she gets on with my other furbabies fingers crossed i don't have a war zone this evening :briggin:
-
How exciting - how old is she and where is she coming from?
-
She is 20 weeks old and coming from a local breeder i've not paid for her papers as i don't wish to breed her she'll be yet another spoilt madame in my house hold :Luv2:
-
:Luv: How exciting! Can't wait for pics.
Not sure what you mean by not paying for papers? She should have papers regardless of whether you want to breed from her.
-
the breeder said it would cost extra for her papers if i wanted to breed from her ???
-
Who is she registered with? I have no idea how TICA of FIFE work, but with GCCF, the cat is registered and you get the papers for no extra cost. You then pay something like £20 (to the GCCF) to get the name changed from the breeder to yourself. It doesnt have anything to do with whether you are breeding from the cat. Whilst the papers don't prove the breeder is a good one, they prove that at least the cat is legitimately registered (and that the breeder was allowed to breed from the parents, ie not on the non active register). Some breeders will hold on to the papers until proof of neutering is provided.
-
I agree with Susanne and you should have the papers cos they give all the intersting stuff like the lines and dOB and pedigree name.
I think you should insist on getting them.............I mean you may want to show her ;) ;) ;) ;)
-
having papers is not the same as having breeding rights (active register) you should be able to have the papers if she is on the non active register although some breeders withhold them until you have given proof of neutering - its important to get them otherwise bad breeders will over breed queens and not register the kittens meaning nobody is keeping an eye on how many litters they are letting one queen have - also it should be a printed slip (pink for gccf) not a handwritten family tree type thing
-
I hope all goes well but hate to say that this breeder sounds very suspect - a registered breeder will give you papers (some with hold them until proof of spaying/neutering is provided) and they definately do not charge more for them - can I ask how much you have paid for her?
As Dawn says the GCCF slip is pink and the TICA slip is Blue.
-
Well i have my little baby home and safe she has taken over the pecking order already with the boys already. She hisses and growls at them and they are being really good with her at the moment :briggin:
As for the papers i still don't have them she had a blue slip for the mum of the kittens i've looked on the TICA website and she's not registered on there :shify:
The new arrival is called Narla she woke me up at 5.55am ( luckily i'm up art 6) with a very load meow then was very nicely sick on my stairs carpet
I'll post some pics when she's settled in she is lovely and purrs for England :Luv2:
-

Bit dodgy. Looking forward to pictures. :)
-
It does sound a bit dodgy - perhaps mum is registered but dad is not so the kittens would not be able to be registered. I hope you haven't paid over the odds for her as without papers there's no proof she's actually a bengal. The problem with bengals is that they are a popular breed so there are a lot of back street breeders and a lot of people passing off bengal crosses as pedigrees.
I do look forward to seeing pics though and it sounds as though she's settling in nicely ;D

This is not as dodgy as it seems actually, I have a dog and yes it is pedigree, but because I never really wanted the papers cost me £100 instead of over £500. I can get the papers anytime I wish to pay the extra amount of money. The breeder is a responsible breeder and insists that if at any time in the future you can no longer keep the animal then you are to contact them and they will actively find a suitable home or take the dog back. The reason I never wanted the papers is that because of the bite I knew he would be marked down in the ring and therefore was being got as a pet and not for showing. The breeder has got my dogs papers and I am in regular contact with her still.

I don't know how it works with dogs, but with cats it shouldn't cost extra to get papers - certainly not £400! The breeder should have the papers anyway and any breeder who does not give the papers (or is just withholding until proof of neutering) is suspect imo. I think the GCCF actually states that all paperwork should be provided when the kitten goes to new home and to not do so is in breach of GCCF regulations. I would assume that the other organisations are similar. There is just no reason for not giving the papers to a new owner.
Millie's Mum - sorry we're getting on our soap box a bit! I look forward to seeing pics of your new little one asap.
-
It is the same with dogs as with cats.
-
I tried not to get on my soap box, did I fail...? :shy: I'm the first to admit, having never owned a "pedigree" I've no idea how all that paperwork malarky works....
-

No, not really! I'm just conscious of the fact that Millie's Mum posted her excitement about her new furbabe and it's turned into a discussion of pedigree papers and sort of questioning MM's judgement in choice of breeder so I hope she doesn't feel we're putting too much of a damper on things. If it is a dodgy breeder, I'm sure MM bought in good faith. I still want to see pics of her bengly ;D
-
I know nothing about breeders or papers, but I do know that I LOVE BENGLIES!!!!
So photoes please :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
-
Phew! And to clarify, I'm a Bengal fan too. (Not as much as Egyptian Maus though. They're my favourites, I think. ;) )
-
And of course Somalis knock spots of both ;)
-
Hello,
I hope you new bengali baby is settling in well......... I adore bengals (I have 6) lol and my rescue mog...they are all bossy and talkative in their own ways. What colour is your little one?
-
I hope your new baby is settling in well and I look forward to seeing pictures of her.
If she is a pet i don't think it matters about papers. You pay what you want for the kitten you want I think and I am glad she has found a lovely home.
We adopted our kittens from the RSPCA and I have never seen so much paperwork! I have a file 3 inches thick!
What is she called? :)
-
I dont know about spots or mosis but birmans are really cute and noisy LOL
I also am waiting to see the pics ;D ;D
-
Birmans are beautiful, but they have a big gob on them!!!! :evillaugh:
-
And of course Somalis knock spots of both ;)
But none of them are as gorgeous as Abys ;)
-
And none of them are as good as a moggie :naughty:

Millie's mum if you upload them to a host site like Photobucket which is free and easy you can resize them on there or just run your mouse over the uploaded pics and a drop down box with show. Copy the bottom link and paste it on to your post and the picture will show onthe forum
