I always knew Buster was a bit daft, but thought the girls had more sense.
I have a pet rat as well as the three cats, and yesterday found out all 3 of my cats are actually slightly scared of him. Buster will sometimes let him sit near him on the sofa, but then moves as though Clyde is a big bad monster who will attack him!! Yesterday morning he kept moving round the worktop cos Clyde wanted to go near him. Zi actually spat at him when he got near her!! I did get some good pics, i will post them at some point.
So much for cats thinking rats are food!!

   sounds familiar .... you should have seen Zephyr's reaction to Lilly (the ferret). He still isn't her No 1 fan but he no longer cowers on the worktop hissing at her.

Years ago Jack brought a live mouse in to the house and dropped it.....I tried to find it and failed. I got up a few days later to find Toby sat watching something in the kitchen intently with a look of puzzlement on his face; I crept up to see the mouse drinking very obviously from the cat water bowl.
Rats are a pretty scary adversary to cats, I think. I know when I left Morrigans cage open overnight by accident (a lovely white girl I had a long time ago) I got up and she was pottering around the bottom of the shelves her cage was on with Jack feigning being asleep on the floor a small distance from her. :briggin:

for as long as we've had cats we've always had a parrot. Our late white fronted amazon used to like to come out of his cage. I used to stay in the lounge with him and shut our then two persians Shady and Shona out of the room. One day Shady made so much fuss about being out of the lounge I let her in. She totally ignored the parrot walking on the floor and jumped up on the sofa and went to sleep for several hours. I'm always wary though as several our of our present cats like to sleep on top of the current parrots cage. I always keep a cover over it when the cats are in the lounge because dangling paws and tails are very tempting to bite as far as the parrot is concerned
