Title: How many more hints can I ignore
Post by: Mark on December 02, 2010, 22:06:18 PM
OH keeps hinting. The regular thing is pretending to answer the phone and saying "Oh hi tommy - Ys i know you are looking forward to coming here but Mark hasn't said yes yet" or "Yes I know you don't want to spend another christmas in a pen" etc etc. Last night, OHs iPad was on my pillow and I went to put it on the side but OH said "look at it" it was on Tommy's page at Romney House rescue. Tonight I got an email - see pic below  :-:

I would love another cat but I would hate for Kylie to suffer because of it. That is all that is holding me back. Especially now she is getting older; I want her to enjoy her senior years  :Luv2:

Something tells me he doesn't really mean it, Mark. I think he's just winding you up.  :evillaugh:

Also, it would be unfair to bring a cat into a house where they might be bullied or intimidated - It's a tough call.

Same here Mark. I'd go without more if I felt another cat could be introduced to the group successfully but I'm not sure any of the cats would benefit; the existing group or the newbie.

Sage is really nervous and Darwin and Astryd are for the most part quite happy with each others company. But even Astryd, who is one of the most patient cats I've ever met, gets pee'd off with the Little Guy from time to time. I'm not sure how easily another feline personality would fit into the mix.....

Having said that, with the right temperaments, large groups can definitely work. Carrie, Jack, Toby, Parsley and Sage all lived well together and there were never any hisses or growls to each other. :Luv:

I'm sure your OH is as aware of this as you, and just wishes he could help Tommy. ;)

Oh bless - Tommy looks very fetching in his santa hat!

Could you not take him for a trial period, MarK?  To see how he gets on with Alice and Kylie?

I suppose it is possible but the rescue is about 50 miles away. I think I will have a word with Silvana. I have tried phoning a couple of times but get the voicemail.

It sounds as if Tommy might not be right. He is a really nervous cat and 'hand shy' - he is slowly coming out of his shell but follows one of the other cats around like a shadow. We both decided that it mightbe to much for him here - especially if Kylie or Alice got a bit stroppy. She has another cat sharing with 2 females at the moment. Apparently, they both give him a hard time but he is bomb-proof and they don't manage to bother him - sounds more like the kind of cat that might fit in here.

Silvana has invited us down to meet the cats to see if there are any suitable candidates. She suggested that we visit Foal Farm at the same tie as they are nearby.

It will have to be next week though. Maybe after I get the car back.

I have a feeling Santa will be bringing an early present to your house, Mark

though the present itself will be getting an even bigger present - a warm home for Christmas

I am currently resisting a former feral powder puff, it's not easy! Peer pressure doesn't help!

So Mark, have you got a couple of new beds ordered for the new arrival :naughty:

 at the picture of Tommy having his breakfast! If you can't manage introductions, Mark, then nobody can. Don't forget if I get kidnapped by a stray UFO tomorrow you promised to take Noah - doesn't even like YouTube cats  - so really Tommy is a trial run.
