I'm surprised Angela (pudding) hasn't posted about this. I went for lunch with Sharon last Friday and she told me about this cat.
A man who lives in Spain was over here as his father had died and he was sorting out the effects. He looked in the shed and there was a tiny skin-and-bone elderly cat in there. He phoned the branch (not sure who he spoke to) and explained that he had phoned the RSPCA who (surprise surprise) weren't interested. He asked the neighbours and one said 'oh, you mean the cat we have been throwing water at?' >:(
Anyway, he was frantic as he said he had to go back to Spain but the cat was obviously desperately in need of help. Angela collected the cat (apparently the man hugged Angela and was in tears :shy: )
It was taken to a vet - it weighed 1.5kg :( (I said to Sharon surely that wasn't possible but she assured me it was true) the cat is hyperthyroid and luckily, despite everything, no other major health issues - amazing considering how it had been living and being over 18 :)
She has started gaining weight :Luv2:
I'm pretty sure Sharon said Angela had the cat originally but she will be going to Caroline to be taken care of.
I'm sure Angela or Julie can fill in the gaps or correct any errors :evillaugh:

what a nightmare, thankfully found but you wonder how many others are living like this
-
Glad this little one was found and is being helped.
-
:( ahhhh poor little soul. So pleased she is now safe and out of the cold. Well done to the nice man for helping and :P to the nasty neighbours.
-
You must be talking about Lil. :Luv2:
She has now been diagnosed as hyper-thyriod, dodgy kidneys etc. Yes, she really was 1.5kgs. She is still with Angela atm. ;)

:Luv2:
-
Poor little thing.
What gets me is that this cat has at some time been someone's adored pet - what happened?
-
bless her thank goodness she was found. Bet she couldn't believe her luck when she saw food
-
I bet we'll never know with this one. I remember a story about an old lady who died with a couple of adored cats in the house. The family were round like vultures for the contents of the house but the cats were slung out in the cold to fend for themselves >:(
-
Oh bless her tiny heart.....
So glad she is in from the cold now

Hiya,
Yes this is our Lill. :Luv2:
She was brought in to our care by a gentleman that was in Sheppy. He actually lives in Spain and was over here as his father had died and he was
sorting out the effects. While tidying up the garden he found a tiny skin-and-bone elderly cat in there. He was frantic as he said he had to go back to Spain but the cat was obviously desperately in need of help. He brought the cat to us at one of our vets where she was examined and at that time weighed only 1.63kg. Aside from her obvious weight problem and her age at about 16yrs, we were concerened about kidneys, liver, heart, etc as well as Fiv and Felv so she had blood tests for the lot. Much to our suprise and delight they all came back okay except for her thyroid. She is hyper thyroid. Fortunatly that is something that can be remedied with daily medication. She is in our care now, a
lot perkier than she was and is eating well. When she is fit enough she does need to have a dental check up and probably a few teeth removed.
She is a lovely little cat that enjoys sleeping, eating and fusses though not neccesssarily in that order. She likes having her fur brushed as well but it is
in such a state at the moment I can only do a bit at a time.,

Lots of love to Lil
-
It sounds like she was rescued just in time. I doubt she would have survived this weather.
It is so sad to think of all the animals outside :(
-
did the old man have dementia, that might account for the lack of care
-
AFAIK, poor Lill was just a stray living in the dead man's garden. The son said his father never had a cat and that's why he was so shocked to see her living like that in his dad's garden. :innocent:
-
Hugs to everyone who helped her. :Luv:
-
Poor liitle mite,rotten neighbours! :Luv:
-
Bless her what a sweetheart :Luv2: I bet she thinks she's in heaven now with all the love and care she's getting. Well done to everyone who's helped her and especially well done to the man who found her and didn't just ignore her. Also big :P to the neighbours who should be ashamed of themselves.
-
Poor little mite - Glad that she is now safe with you guys.
-
Lill is now tucked up nice and warm with Caroline. Her place is a crazy mixture of a nursery for kittens, a care home for the sickly, and a retirement home for the elderly. Along with the resident cats and dogs and people it seems to work very well indeed. ;D Anyway, Lill apparantly is spending her time in her bed in front of the aga in the kitchen (where the food is) or asleep in her pen in the play room or sitting, watching everything and everyone from the playroom doorway. She's eating well and generally letting people know she is there and not to be trifled with. Darcy, the young pup has already been told off. :evillaugh: She's doing very well, thank you.
-
That is a lovely update - bless her :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Thats wonderful and hope she has a warm and lovely Christmas ;D
-
awww the poor thing, atleast she is safe now :)
-
Thank goodness she was found and rescued! ;D How can anyone throw water over a cat, let alone one who is obviously so poorly >:( At least she's warm now, bless her :Luv2:
-
I will try to remember my camera later. Hopefully I get get to meet Lil at the xmas social :Luv2:
-
Lil is a little purr factory :Luv2:
I have never seen a cat with such tiny paws.
-
Mark - she is just lovely and am so glad that you guys got to her :Luv: :Luv:
See what you mean about the tiny paws :Luv2: Are the photos of Lil enjoying the social ?
-
Yes :Luv2: she was safely upstairs in Caroline's bedroom. The other cats and dogs were happily milling around downstairs (except kittens were in the kitten room) but Lil is so fragile. I don't think she would have been bothered though. She is totally deaf as well. Caroline had had quite a few oldies and she thinks it is likely Lil is in her 20s.
I met Peter Hepburn (CP boss) again but didn't get round to having a chat as I could only stay 1 1/2 hours. Julie had a chinwag with him though :evillaugh:
You can see poor Lil has a bad eye which is being treated (lesions). She is a happy & contented little girl :Luv:
Supposedly she is up for homing when she is stronger but I doubt Caroline will let her go :shify:
Angela (pudding) took the top 2 pics as that is me holding Lil - luckily my face is not in them :evillaugh:
-
Aww Bless her :Luv:
Met Peter a few times - asked me to be on an interview panel a couple of times when they were interviewing for new heads of ...... at Headquarters :-: Hope Julie put him straight on how it was for branches :evillaugh:
Hope old Lil gets to stay with Caroline
-
She's ace! :Luv:
-
Dunno about 'chinwag'. :evillaugh: Someone walked him over to me and introduced me as 'the feral lady'.   I had met him before about 3 years ago but I wasn't expecting him to remember me. :innocent: He was lovely and seemed to have the time of his life at the party and wanted to know all about our trapping exploits. Get this... he doesn't actually have a cat of his own! He had one which he took home from the NCC but it had a heart condition and only lived 3 years. :( For the last year he has been cat-less. :innocent: Anyway, we all thought he would only stop an hour or so but in the end was there over 4 hours and we virtually had to throw him out. He just didn't want to go home.
I had a good cuddle with Lil as well. She was quite happy tucked away from the noise but was also very at home 'holding court' to a steady stream of visitors to her room. :evillaugh:
-
:Luv2: :Luv2: awww, what a gorgeous old girl. I'm sooo pleased she's been made safe with you guys!

There is an article in one of the local papers this week. It says she belonged to the old man that died. I'm not sure if they made that up or were given duff info.
