Title: Domestic cat markings

Do you think they serve a purpose like wild cats? I'm curious about this!

I would think wild cats markings are there just to distinguish the breed? So maybe the same for small cats?

Nope, wild cats markings serve as camoflauge with some big cats. (ie:tigers) Just wondering if there was a similiar principle behind domestic cats.

Some of the colours will have, such as tabbies. There are only a few basic cat colours really though, if I remember rightly, only 3 of them, and everything else is combination of them, and certain breeds will have been bred over a period of time to lose/gain certain things - the Bengal breeders are still working on certian things, and that is a 30 year old breed, so shows how long it takes.
