I have seen 2 types on eBay. They are equally ugly but can't find anything else suitable. I tried looking into library steps but can't find anything suitable at a reasonable price (I did see a nice set of Georgian library steps on eBay for £9000 :evillaugh: )
Whatever I get needs to be non-slip as it will be going on a wood floor.
These look really lightweight and would probably get grubby. I get the impression there is just a frame underneath where you stick plastic poles together? :shify:

This seems more practical but still not sure

I was looking last night - I was given a reminder that I need to get something, when Alice did her clawing her way up the sofa arm like an oversized kitten thing - she slipped and went over, landing on her back, knocking over a bowl of biscuits that went everywhere. Luckily she didn't hurt herself :scared:

Wouldn't a footstool do as well? That's what we still have by bed. Tom used it due to his arthritis
-
Could you commission a carpenter to make some for you?
-
Mark we have a wooden box with anti slip stuck on to it so that Sweetie can get on the couch its only one strp height but has been well used as Miss Cissy used it previously to get on to her radiator bed
We also have a foot stoll in service and a trunk at the bottom of the bed with blankets on all work well - the kittens love the box to as it started life as a proposed birthing box till Diva decided she had reabsorbed her kittens so we turned it over and voila a step ;D

I'd go for an aerobic step, Mark, such as http://www.dietandfitnessresources.co.uk/home_gym/reebok_step.htm?gclid=CKD0qNfVp6UCFY4e4Qod-UI0jg
as is the nature of such items, there are loads of second hand ones around too

I have some of the first unsightly steps..... :shy: I found them in a charity shop for one pound fifty (my pound sign isn't working) and got them because I thought they'd help Carrie Bagpuss get on things. She took one look at them, scowled at me then jumped on the futon to prove I'd wasted my money.
They got left out for a little while, but ended up being used as ambush stairs by Darwin so I gave up.

All I can say is that my cats must have me a better trained slave than you lot as my
horrors lovable rogues will sit there look at me then look where they want to be for me to pick them up and place them there

when we need a step up for pepsi, I couldn't find any footstools in the charity shops so ended up buying a plastic storage box that i filled with some of the cat junk (toys and brushes) lying around so it was actually quite handy.
As she got older and needed a second step a smaller box was found to have two step ups.

Thanks everyone. I think I will try the plastic one. OH will complain if I put anything like a plastic box down.
I don't think OH would go for an aerobic step :shy: (says the house is a tip as it is :evillaugh: )

 Off topic but I've recently been gearing up for winter with some decent hats, gloves and umbrellas. Gorgeous designer brollies if you want to spend a week's wages, but what if it turned inside out on first use? Do you think I'd be covered on home contents policy accidental damage?

The spa steps look good :)
This is ugly but would probably do the job :evillaugh: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001VWHC52/sr=1-10/qid=1290034382/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1290034382&sr=1-10&seller=
Ditto this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Metal-Step-Stool-Mat/dp/B003UVDYTU/ref=sr_1_30?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1290034559&sr=1-30

I have ordered the 2-step version of this http://www.pet-supermarket.co.uk/products-Pet-Gear-Easy-Step-Stairs_CA1050.htm another case of eBay not being the cheapest. It was £30 + £5 delivery on eBay (except for a used by a dog one I nearly bought without realising :scared: ) Not only that. although I am convinced I have ordered from them before, their system insisted I hadn't (yahoo mail search was playing up) I had to create an account and get £5 off my first order :evillaugh:
I saw images on another site. The 2 step is sofa height and the 3 step car (bed?) height.
