Title: Get Well Soon vibes needed for Zephyr please - Back from Vet ... All OK'ish
Post by: Sam (Fussy_Furball) on November 10, 2010, 15:28:07 PM
Got to take my little boy to the VET tomorrow afternoon cuz he has hurt himself!  Noticed he was limping on Monday evening and didn't really pay too much attention as I thought he had probably just landed a bit funny when launching himself off the top of the kitchen cupboards or out of the airing cupboard  :innocent:

Anyway last night he was still limping and when he was sitting up I noticed his front leg / wrist looked a bit "odd" ... like it was bending in the wrong place.  He is still putting weight on it but he is limping and not looking like a happy bunny so mummy is taking him to see the nice Mr Vet man tomorrow.  I'm just praying he's not broken something and is being a big brave solider and not letting on  :-:

Will let you all know how we get on tomorrow.

Hopefully just a sprain, I doubt he'd be putting weight on it if it was broken.

Poor boy, hope he's walking normally soon!

:get well: Zephyr :care:

I know you said he was limping but are you sure about the funny angle thing? The reason I say that is that I quite often catch sight of Riley walking down the garden path and think :omg: he's broken his paw but then realise that his front paws seem to bend at an funny angle when he walks.  Never really noticed it before so it could be that you're looking at something that is always there?

Hopefully it's somthing simple like a sprain or maybe even a bite

Trigger's front ankle joint turns inwards a bit, and he started limping when he kept jumping up to a high shelf, and climbing up to the top of the wardrobe, and then jumping down on to a hard floor

I removed the stacking shelves he was using to climb up, and moved the bed I had been keeping on the high shelf, and the limp went

I think like us cats do get a touch of arthritis in their joints as they get older

Yeah you may be right .... I've never really looked that closely before but now he's limping I keep peering at him! lol.  Whatever it is he's got a limp so a trip to see he's favourite people won't do him any harm.  The vet nurses were asking after him recently when Mum went with her lot for their jabs!  Everyone knows Zephyr cuz of the noise he makes lol.

Poor Zeph   I was just admiring him on the Purrs calendar this morning.  Let's hope he's being a drama queen rather than a brave boy  ;D

Good luck with him today

I remember when I thought Kylie had broken her leg - it turned out to be a sprain and she was fine in 24hrs (I phoned the vet straight away who asked what she was doing - I said she was eating and the vet said there is no way she would want to eat with a break)

Hope all is well for vet visit Sam .

I've had both Billy Whiz and Dinah doing the limpy thing over last few weeks.  Dinah's cleared up within a couple of days but Billy's was worse as he had been bitten and he limped a while longer.  Both fine now.

Sending some soothing  :care: :care: to Zephyr and hope he doesn't get too stressed.

Well we are back from the vet (also popped over to see my Mum Zephyr likes it at Granny's!  :evillaugh:).

Turns out the little lad has probably damaged the ligaments / tendons in his wrist.  He was a very good boy for lovely Lisa the nice vet lady (Lisa called him sexy boy!).  She prodded and proked and bent and pulled and he didn't grizzle once.  While we were there I also said he had bad breath and was a bit worried it might be his teeth.

Lisa had a look in his mouth and said his teeth were lovely but he does have a sore bit at the back of his mouth near his tongue ... could be gum infection  :innocent:

So we had a long lasting shot of antibiotics, 3ml of anti-inflammatories (which I've got to collect tomorrow cuz they didn't have any in) and a consultantion fee and mummy is now £58.65 out of pocket  :-:

But at least I know the little lad is gonna be OK  :Luv2:  Lisa said it could take up to 6 weeks for him to be fully fit again.

Esco (the dog) did the same to his front leg. The vet prodded poked and pulled him around and because he didn't even flinch the vet thought I had the wrong leg lol! It did take few weeks to heal and I had to keep him rested as much as possible!!!!

Glad it's nothing too serious, did the vet mention that dreamies should be administered daily? Strictly for medicinal purposes you understand  :evillaugh:

No dreamies weren't mentioned however when we visited Granny she thought he was looking a bit sad so cheered him up with 3 HUGE Marks and Spencer king prawns   (It's no wonder he likes to visit Granny ... even if he does have to put up Bella and LuLu following him all round the house grumbling at him!

Glad he was such a good boy at the vets, and that there's no lasting damage (apart from to your purse that is  :-[ )

Definitely think some dreamies could aid poorly tootsie healing  :Luv:

Bless him  :Luv:  He obviously needs more of the prawns to aid his recovery, although I do suspect Zephyr has some drama queen tendencies  :sneaky:

OMG how can you say such a thing!  Zephyr has ALOT of drama queen tendencies not "some"    Mind you on this occasion I don't think he's playing the matyr ... he is proper injured!  But prawns and salmon mousse and a warm spot near the radiator seem to be helping!  ;)
