Post by: arttilly34 on November 10, 2010, 11:32:46 AM
Hi
iv rescued an abandoned kitten 4 weeks ago she is now approx 9weeks old. she was quite poorly and had very bad ear mites when i got her. i feed her small amounts of wet food (she wont eat buiscuits) every 2 hours. but she has has no weight gain in 2 weeks. what can i give her to put weight on her, iv noticed that she doesnt groom herself how do i encourage her to do this
thanks in advance for any replies

I think a visit to the vets is paramount for this wee thing to get totally checked out - thanks for saving the wee one

Have you taken her to a vet for a checkup?

Otherwise, it is very likely she has worms and possibly other parasites. Please don't be tempted to use things like Bob Martin.

Hi arttilly

Have you wormed the kitten since you have had her? If not then a parasite burden could contribute to her not gaining weight. What wet food have you been feeding her? Feeding her little and often is correct but she may just need something extra depending on what you have been feeding.

How many pouches of felix are yu feeding her a day?

It may be worth calling your vet in the first instance about the not gaining weight and see what they say. They may want to see her again to make sure nothing untoward is going on.

I just have my first family of rescue kittens at the moment and touch food all has been ok so I don't have any experience on what the problem could be.

hi she is now eating between 1 and 1.5 a day. i took her to vets on monday she was 0.55kg, and iv got to take her back in 2 weeks to see if any weight gain and if not she is going to do blood tests.
