hey so we knew the time was coming near bt not sure how near but tonoght Peppa is being verry strange.
She is laying on the sofa purring and crying randomly. The crying is not loud she was even doing it when she was sleeping but between crying she is purring loudly. she is getting up cleaning herself and going in circles before laying down again.
My question is does this sound like the kittens are coming to any of you ?
I ask because she is doing everything diff from what i have read and was looking for. She is still eating too. Im so confused lol
Thanks
-
Sorry I dont know but cats often seem to have kittens during the night.
I hope someone who knows can advise
-
Cats can purr when they are unwell so maybe they can also purr when in labour? That is a guess, I have never had a pregnant cat. :-[
-
She is a rather evil little cat she is prolly just doing this to get me going lol i am freaking out, i spent forever online looking things up because this was not planned and she is doing nothing the way it is said to happen. although she has now relocated to one of the nesting pens i had put out for her so fingers crossed. I think if she does not have them soon i will be crazy. Well mpre crazy lol
-
I am sure she is not really evil :innocent:
Make sure you have the emergency vets number to hand in case of urgent questions or problems but it does sound like she is preparing herself and as you are well knowledge informed, I am sure it will all be OK
-
How's she doing this morning? :)
-
Sorry,i can't help you,all my cats are spayed/neutered.
-
Bit late to this but yes, she definitely sounds like she's in labour.
But I guess you know one way or the other by now! :)
-
Actually i dont.
I stayed up last night til bout 4 but there was no kittens. Only thing is i cant find her this morning and i have been everywhere. There is no way she could have gotten out but i still cant find her i have been looking for hours going over and over. Every now and then i think i can here her but im not sure if i am just imagining that as it is never in the same area think i can hear her :shify:
Im not too worried though because as i said she cant have gotten out so its just a matter of time to see when and where i find her and if she is alone.
-
go find her.
if she has problems during labour or after and you can't get to her it could be a matter of life or death.
she should be placed somewhere where she cannot hide from you.
please do it now.
-
They obviously try to find 'safe' places - backs of wardrobes, under beds, behind sofas etc.
We had a cat on holiday in Gran Canaria once that made her nest in the wardrobe. We didn't move her as we didn't want her having the kittens outside - at the last minute, she decided to move to the back of the sofa in the living room. She had them overnight, much to the disgust of my friend, Stan who was on a z-bed about a foot from where she had them.
-
Yup, Angie's right, you need to know where she is. Hope Madam is OK and things are going smoothly for her. Let us know when you find her. :)

Yea i read that she would so i left all wardrobes open with blankets and towels in the bottom most of my beds have drawrs undr them but the ones that dont do not house my little hide away. Getting freaked out now though as i have went from top to bottom of the house and can not find her !

I have been trying to find her all day. From all i have read not one thing said i should confine her to one area unless i specifically wanted her to have the kittens in that area. I didnt because i thought it better she decided where she felt safest to have her kittens or i did until she decided to hide from me .
Im gonna go keep looking got a friend over to help me out so fingers crossed. I should mention this is not the first time Peppa has done this to me she makes a habit of it but she is not in any of the other places she hid before i have checked and re checked those.
Anyways fingers crossed.

Any news yet :scared:
-
Have you found her yet?? It is very important to keep a close eye on Mum during labour so if she has any problems you can get straight onto the vet.
When you find her please confine her, and the kittens if they have arrived, to a quiet room (with no or minimal places she can hide) or a dog crate as if she tries to move them when they are a week or two old you need to be able to see exactly where she has moved them too and also so you can easily keep an eye on them all so you can spot any problems with either Mum or the kittens quickly.
-
Hope you have found her and all is well
If you havent sit down somewhere quiet and relax and start thinking of all the tiny places you didnt look cos you thought they were too small, under cupboards, beds, sofa, between things and start at one end of house and shut the doors after you have looked.
Dont forget inside drawers and amongst anything soft, behind curtains or blinds.
Maybe in a bookcase, check any cupboards thatare closed.
Its very important to close every door after you have searched a room cos they can be so sneaky and slip out while your back is turned.
Once you have found her decide which places she can go and open up doors again.

Hey sorry guys having some computer problems to top it all off.
I found peppa still no kittens but we took a trip to the vet ( my cat hates me now :S nah not really she came round pretty quick with a couple of treats and im sure with the amount i have been up there recently i am keeping them paid lol) She is ok and the kittens are due any day and i have closed off alot of the house to her so she cant do another dissapearing act on me.
Nice to know you guys care though

Shell, was wondering if Peppa was OK?
-
Hey guys sorry have been meaning to come back on here and thank you guys for the support and i have made it back eventually :thanks:. Better late than never right :scared:
Anyways Peppa and her little fur balls are all ok its been hectic though. She had the kittens the 4 we were expecting and then one more just to keep us on our toes. She decided in the end to have them in the middle of the living room floor in the middle of the day. We ended up taking them all up to the vets to get the once over as 2 of the kittens looked very weak. . . well weaker than the others they were hardly moving and peppa seemed to be trying to have another after the five but turns out that no she was ok and so were all the kittens. Im just being over anxious turns out lol
They are all black and white mostly black with just little bits of white apart from one who is more white with just a little black, Im gonna keep that one.
Anyways thanks again
-
Thats wonderful and would be lovely to see some pics and be updated from time to time ;D

How're things with Pepa?
-
Peppa and kittens doing great well the kittens we have left anyways. most of them are off to their new homes now just the tow left now the one we are keeping and a friend who will get theirs when they come back from their holls. will post up some pics soon so you can see the hug diff. they are massive now especially O'malley ( little guy we are keeping ) Only prob was that we had to take the xmas tree down asap they were not jumping on it they were climbing in it. They got up through the middle til they got to the top and started squeeking for all they were worth lol
-
PICS PICS needed
-
Will you be getting Peppa spayed now hun? Be careful not to let her out until she is done because she could become pregnant again very very quickly.

Yep Peppa getting spayed asap. We have had her up at the vets just last week as she was a little ill and spoke about that at the time. They wont do it untill the kittens have stopped feeding from her and O'malley isn't keen on the idea at all lol
Peppa is in heat right now and driving me crazy but we are super carefull to keep her in from the sea of cats in our garden. Any ideas on how to keep O'malley from feeding off her ? the vet suggested keeping an eye during the day and using distraction to stop him if he tries and keeping them apart at night but i really dont want to seperate them if i dont have to. I cant help but think if he is still doing it he is still needing it. the other kitten is fine and seems to want no part in it anymore even when at times it seems Peppa is encouraging it
-
I've never had a mum and kittens before so I am not sure. The kittens are just over 8 weeks now aren't they so I don't think they still need their mothers milk. I think the general advice is to separate mum and kittens even though it seems mean but I don't think its good for mum to continue to be fed off plus it will be draining her resources plus getting the kittens of mum is vital so she can be spayed asap.
As I said, I have no experience of mums and kittens so am only passing on info I have picked up (mainly from Purrs). Hopefully and experienced fosterer or someone else will be able to advise fully :)

P.s. Sorry to hear that peppa was a little bit poorly
