Hello
My cat has developed a loud meow, which sounds horrible. In the morning she meows like this and comes in to the bedroom and rolls over for you to tickle
her tummy or stroke her.
Then she goes down stairs and sits on the table waiting for food.
This to me seems unusual. Is she attention seeking?
Thanks

Sounds like it to me, you are clearly not feeding her quick enough! :evillaugh:
Possum (RIP) had the loudest meow I'd ever heard but hers was pretty much constant!
Does she purr when you go to rub her tummy?
-
Kayla has a really loud meow too, but being a bengal i have heard they are very vocal cats anyway, so i guess it normal :evillaugh:.
-
Yes she does purr.

Yes she does purr.
Well, in my opinion (and I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong) doesn't sound like she's crying for help...so maybe not worry too much but keep an eye on things, and if her behaviour changes dramatically, then she may be trying to tell you she's not well...or somefink :shify:
-
Is she doing anything else out of the normal?
-
Sounds like she is hungry and telling you to give her her food.
The alternative is that she wants attention ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,how old is she?
Franta and Ducha my two birmans have very loud and raucous mewows when they want something but they are 17.

Some can apparently miaow louder/ more if they are going a little deaf or a little senile, but she may simply be training you! :evillaugh:

My little CoCo is the opposite...She can't miaow :( She moves her mouth and sometimes nothing comes out.
Only rarely do we get a little squeak from her, she always lets me know when she has visited the litter tray but its always a 'half' miaow..I feel so sorry for her :scared:

How old is she, and has she been spayed?
-
Sounds like a 'I want it,and I want it NOW' Meow to me! ;) :evillaugh:

One of my mum's cats was like that - never ever ever ever miaows. Took him about two years to find his purr, which, when he did, was the loudest rumble you'd ever heard. His brother, in contrast has a miaow that could be heard in the next city... perhaps poor Bailey couldn't get a word in edgeways?!

You get a shout? I just get belted about the nose with a paw, followed by a furry paw up my left nostril if I don't jump to attention.

Well,If I dont respond within five seconds,I usually end up with the same,a furry paw on my nose & I have woken up once with a paw in my mouth! :naughty:

lol!!!! Little CoCo purrs all the time, its a very soft purr, such a lovely sound.
She just can't seem to get the 'miaow' bit out! Poor little soul. She has always been the same, even from she was a kitten :scared:

the only time Trigger meouws is if he is put in a carrier for the dreaded V.E.T or C.A.T.T.E.R.Y
not miaowing can be a drawback though - he once got caught up in some clothing in the wardrobe, and not a peep out of him - fortunately after a while I heard him banging about in there
so better loud than nothing at all, I think

Well,
I woke up this morning with Daisy lying on my chest, her tail draped over my face & her bum inches from my chin & a back leg either side of my head!! :scared:
I now have claw scratches on my shoulders where she got up...

My last two cats, (who now live with their daddy, my ex) were half Burmese and therefore very vocal. Magic especially would tell you what's what! So she's probably just saying Good morning mother, time for my breakfast thank you!
My cat now, little thimble (who is missing), has a meow but is far less demanding than my last two. It's all part of their character. Thimble is a naughty tortie instead and gets herself into all sorts of trouble. Was chased by a dog a couple of months ago and we thought she'd been killed as the dog had it in it's jaws! in the end she was wet through and terrified but absolutely fine. the dog had scratches :-) She also jumped out the first floor window when she'd been with us about 2 days (she was only a tiny tiny kitten). Again I thought she'd be badly hurt or killed (I'm a drama queen at times...I lay prostrate on the ground crying 'I've killed her, I've killed her') again she was fine!! I just wish I knew where she was now... :-/

Hello, so
Further to my cat's loud meow, I have since spoken to the nurse at the vets and she thinks Tiny gets disorientated at times and unsure of her bearings and where we are. This makes sense as Tiny only meows like this when she cannot see us, although the not feeding quick enough etc makes sense too.
She also sleeps loads now, more than she used to and we think she is going a little deaf, although I noticed tonight that she is scratching behind her ears, so I also wonder if she could have an infection. We are taking her to the vets for an overhaul this week!

Hope she is Ok and nothing seriously wrong
