Jericho died yesterday morning :'(
When we got up in the morning Jim went downstairs before me, and found him lying in the kitchen doorway. At first he thought he was asleep, but then he realised that he wasn't breathing and that was when he called me.
I couldn't believe what he was telling me, and I ran downstairs. I was kneeling by Jericho and stroking him and talking to him, but I could tell that he was gone.
He was our youngest, only 3 years old, and so full of life. He had only been with us 5 weeks and had just settled into the family. Everything was going so well.
We rang our vet, and he told us to bring Jerry in later in the morning. He said that Jerry had had a heart attack. He said that occasionally cats of Jericho's age can die from an undetected heart problem, and that there was nothing we could have done about it.
We didn't see anything wrong - no symptoms to indicate that anything was wrong at all.
We were so happy. Jerry had given us that again. I don't understand anything any more. Why? Why our Jerrykins? He was only 3?
I'm so so sorry
:'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

What an awful shock :(
I know it's impossible to take comfort from this right now but he finally found his forever home and would have been happy and known he was loved to bits for those 5 precious weeks
RIP little Jerry, safe and sound at the Bridge by now, waiting until your Mum and Dad are ready to collect you xx
-
Aw, you poor thing, what a terrible shock it must have been.
I've heard of this happening to young cats and there's really nothing you could have done. Sometimes life sucks, it really does.
RIP Jericho.
-
So sorry Sylvia :'(
Not much anyone can say to comfort you, except I'm sure it was quick and he didn't know anything - still doesn't make it easy though. All I can say is at least he was at home and there are far worse ways to go - still... :(
-
So sorry for your loss
-
I'm so sorry Sylvia - at least for those five weeks he was safe and loved.
-

RIP little Jerry
-
 What a terrible shock for you, I'm so sorry.
-
I don't think anything said can help with such an awful shock, life can be terribly cruel sometimes. But although Jericho was only with you for a short time, think how much love he received. :care:
:RIP: Jericho.
-
Wow. I cannot imagine. Same age as my girls so totally shocked for you.
Lots of love xxx
-
Sylvia I'm so sorry, what a terrible shock
-
So sorry to hear about Jericho and it always hits harder when they are so young and should have had their whole life in front of them. But he had 5 wonderful weeks of love and security some that go to rescue sometimes pass still in rescue, all my fosters used to get the same love and attention as my own no matter how long they were with me and yes I mainly did the oldies so a lot had medical problems. I lost count of the ones that I lost due to illness in my care and some would be with me 9 months.
RIP Baby Jericho
-
I just wanted to thank everyone for your kind thoughts.
Jim and I are in total shock right now.
I'm sorry, but everytime I try to type, I can't see anything because of the tears.
I promise I'll try again tomorrow.
-
 So sorry :(
-
Sylvia,
I am so sorry for Jerry's passing.I could'nt read much of your post as it bought back memories of my best bud Orbit passing last Sept.Rest assured tho,Orbit'll look after him on the bridge.
-
Only just read this .
I am so sorry , what an awful shock     :'(

I am so sorry to hear this Sylvia, it is so much harder to deal with when it is unexpected and when they are so young, but at least he was in a home and loved. RIP little one

-
I'm so sorry Sylvia, such a shock
Its always tragic when we lose one of our babies, but even moreso when they are so young :'(
RIP Jericho, play hard on the Bridge sweetheart xxxx
-
I've got tears in my eyes. My rescue cats are 3 years old and I've only had them 5 weeks, so I can imagine how devastated you must be....you'd only just got to know him.
He would have gone to the bridge a very very happy and content furbaby. In time, you will take comfort from that.
All I can do is send you lots of these
So very sorry for your loss :'(
RIP Jericho xx
-
I'm so sorry, Sylvia  What a terrible shock for you. Such a horrible thing to happen. A similar thing happened with my Magpie 5 years ago, but he was older than Jericho at 8.
-
Sorry to hear about poor Jericho
-
So sorry to hear about Jericho :'( :'(
Such a shock for you both - can understand what you are going through and how devastated you must feel. I lost my sweet Thomas at 18 months old due to heart problems.
Run free little man and you both take care
-
I am so sorry Sylvia. :( Thinking of you  :hug:x
-
Thank you for your responses.
It seems so unfair after all that Jerry had to go through in the few years that he had, that he couldn't have been given a chance for a long and happy life. He should have been with us for years and years.
I was supposed to be posting photos to show how well he was getting on, and how beautiful and special he was. It doesn't seem to be the right thing to do now. I left it too late.
I miss Jerry chivvying me along to get his breakfast ready quicker. If I walk in the kitchen he's not there with me, in his favourite room, where the potential for food was limitless.
I miss him so much :'(
-
I think it would be lovely to see pics of Jerry and do his memory honour
-
Thanks Gill, I will try to do them tomorrow.
-
Will be lovely to see him
-
I really do try and stay away from these post's as I just end up getting upset :'(
I'm so so sorry Sylvia :(
rip Jericho, taken away far too soon

-
Sylvia I`ve only just seen this post and I know exactly how you are feeling because we went through the same with young Robyn earlier this year. Nothing prepared us for the pain and the shock but my good friend Christine helped no end when she pointed out that death was instantaneous, no warning, no pain, Jericho will have gone likewise and in the wonderful home that was his when he needed it most.
-
I am so sorry to hear your sad news Sylvia.
-
So sorry to hear your news, sitting here with tears in my eyes. ((xx)) hugs and kisses.

I am so very sorry Sylvia
RIP sweet Jericho - play hard at the bridge sweetie xxx
-
Thank you to everyone for being so kind, your support means a lot to me.
I'm sorry I didn't get the photos posted tonight. I have had Sweepy on my lap until about 10 minutes ago, and as it took him so long to become a lap cat I can never ask him to move :Luv:
I will try really hard to get them done for tomorrow.
-
Just sending many    Sylvia.
How awful for you both after all your other recent losses too. Like Teresa says, it's best to concentrate on the fact that he went very quickly in the certain knowledge he was very much loved
RIP Jerry sweetheart :'(
-
You cuddle Sweep cos thats very important
-
Aaw bless Sweep's little heart - he knows you need him right now.

I wish he were still here :(
I know the feeling - it comes in waves  - they will gradually turn to ripples and you will be able to smile when you think of him in time.
-
Wonderful photos
-
What lovely photos - I am so sorry for your loss. He obviously had so much love in that five weeks , and as Teresa said , no suffering or pain.
-
I'm so sorry, I just read your post. I knew I shouldn't have really as my little Thimble is missing and it just makes me so so desperately sad to think of her as I don't know what's happened.
It is so so sad, poor little Jericho, he looked like such gorgeous cat too. There's no rhyme nor reason to any of these things. It all seems so unfair doesn't it? It sounds as if he had a wonderful time with you though and that must comfort you.
So here I am sat weeping again, seems like I do that a lot lately. All I can say is I feel you pain.
B :Luv2:
xx

:thanks: to everyone for your support.
Jerry was perfect for us and our family :Luv: and allowed Suki the space that she needed. He gave us more than we could ever have hoped for.
I hope that we made him as happy as he made us :)
