Our two girls are indoor cats but on Saturday, Drum (who's the more adventurous of the two) ventured into the garden with me. It was lovely watching her sniffing and craning her neck to look at everything but during her little venture she ate what seemed like quite a lot of grass (I don't know what's so attractive about our grass but a neighbourhood cat often comes in and munches quite a lot of it!). I kept moving her along but she was almost fixated on the stuff.
24 hours later ... well, I'll spare you the details but we had to clean the litter tray three times in one hour. She seems absolutely fine in herself, eating and playing normally. I'm not sure if she's eaten grass before - we grew her some indoor grass but she's barely looked at it - so I'm wondering if that would cause it (I thought excess grass made cats sick but she hasn't vomited).
She's not had anything different to eat - she had Hi Life for breakfast yesterday but she's had it before (although a different flavour) so I don't think it was that.
Litter tray was a bit messy again this morning but she was still fine, and hungry for breakfast.

I dont know if it can have ummmmmmm laxitive effect :innocent:
Not usual cos you are right they usually sick it up.
It may just be a coinsidence and she caught a chill, got over excited or has a bug............watch her carefully and if no better tomorrow see a vet. :hug:

it's possible she ate the grass because she was starting to have a digestive problem, rather than the other way around
it seems to work that way with mine
I found, by the way, with special cat grass that the spikes were too soft for them to get hold of - but when I cut them and offered them by hand, they went down a storm

I knew it was often linked with vomiting but not sure about the other, as trigger says it could be she felt she needed a 'clear out' so had a munch on the grass. When my cats haven't been out for a while the first thing thy do is spend ages munching on grass, I'm like this :tired: as I just know I'm going to be cleaning up grass puddles later :tired:

Well, thankfully no grass puddles so far!
She's her usual bonkers self so I know she's not sick. And the litter tray seems to be okay too!

Well, with the nicer weather, both the girls have been exploring the garden a lot recently - but exploring also includes eating a fair bit of grass and as a result they've each been vomiting several times a week. I'm getting a bit concerned about this. Neither is under the weather, they're behaving normally and eating well.
I really don't want to stop them going into the garden cos they love exploring and the new sights and smells are good for them - not to mention the sunshine. But I'm getting fed up of cleaning up vomit! :sick:
Do you think they'll eventually get used to the grass and stop being sick?
Or is there anything I can give them or add to their diet which would help?

Unfortunately I don't think they ever 'get used' to the grass :tired: If you find the answer on how to stop grass munching though would love to know! What I do know is I leave mine out for a good half an hour after I have witnessed grass munching in the hope they'll chuck it up ouside :evillaugh:

They don't seem to bring up much fur. I brush them often and Furminate them once a week which helps.

Maybe your girls don't need to eat grass but it's just a natural thing cats do to help them chuck up to get rid of fur or if they are not feeling well. Obviously most cats do not have such a devoted slave to do their grooming for them :)
A bit like our Groucho always trying to cover his food. No reason at all why he should do it especially as he never leaves anything to come back to later :evillaugh:

Eating grass is meant to make them sick to clear out the system.
Its good for them not bad and now the grass is growing again its nice and tasty for them and smells nice to attract them to munch ;D ;D
Just normal.

There are no warnings on it, and it doesn't seem to have bothered the girls so I'm pretty sure it is.

Yup, Peppy's been grass munching lots lately and sick. The other day he disappeared and when I found out he was munching grass I was waiting for the result :sick:

Ruby had a good grass nosh up and just brought up all the evidence including a nice lot of fur :sick:

Yep I grow grass for Bonnie in the winter and rest of the time I bring her some in from the garden. She is never sick :Crazy:
She's indoor and if I leave the door open while I'm getting shopping out of the car she runs out and heads straight for the grass and then I pick her up and also pick up a handful of grass to take in with her.
