Title: Kitty conversations?
Post by: JoAnn on April 11, 2007, 16:24:55 PM
Does anyone else have a full blown conversation with their cat?  It was recently pointed out by my fiance that I do it a lot.

I talk to Fearne all the time (as does my OH)

Today we have been mostly talking about Fulham sacking Chris Coleman  :help:

I'm always chatting away to my boys and they hang on my every word.  When I got home from work we have quite a long conversation about what we've all been doing all day.

I also have a telepathic conversation with Jaffa most days.  As I'm driving home I tell him how long I'm going to be and give him my ETA.  He then passes that on to Mosi.

I thought this was just standard practice when you have cats  I always hold long conversations with my two but at least I have the excuse that there's nobody else for me to talk to  :innocent:

Its perfectly acceptable to have conversations, telepathic or not, with our cats. My OH has long conversations with Lexy about how good a girl she is when she eats all her food or how long it takes me to get home. As I said, poo and weather seem to be the main conversations I have with Lexy since I get very excited when she has a good poo! And she can tell me all about the weather we have had that day and if the house was warm enough for her!

Whenever I am unlocking the front door, he shouts at me as if to say 'hurry up' and I find that I say things like 'I am just coming.' as I have 3 locks to unlock! hehe

Cheese pretty much always does a meow back at you when you ask her a question
"have you been good cats?" normally gets a meow from cheese and a prrrrrrrt from Doc

Lexy had a long conversation with me this morning as I was getting ready, I got prrrt and miao and a few more little snuffling noises as I got ready. LExy likes to sit on the bed and watch me get ready, she gets a few head fusses as we go along.  She was telling what a lovely girl she is and that she doesn't want her Frontline treatment today.

I have to say I don't agree.

Hehe this is why i've missed you lot  :Luv: No one else understands!

The people in work are so bored of me and my cat stories! (I've got a video of Nina watching Crufts on my phone and they are sick of seeing it!)

Kiki was very timid when we first got her but she is so loud now! Always chattering away, We have full conversations all the time!
Nina has always been quite chattery, but her noises are very specific where Kiki just makes lots of noise!

Amber is very quiet and only makes a noise when she has too. If its in the kitchen its normally 'hurry up and feed me' if its in the tray room and followed by charging up and down the hall its either ' Ive had a poo' or 'Ive got cystitis'
Mogs on the other hand is VERY vocal. She answers with a wow when you talk to her and if shes a bit grumpy or Ambers been annoying her I go and sit on the bed and call her saying 'come on and tell me all about it then'
As I leave the flat I tell them to be good and when I come home they tend to be in the hall so I say hello babes to them.
I do sometime wonder if my neighbours think Im crazy
love

Oh yes, I love talking to m girl. She is usually quite quiet, except when i'm talking to her. But our conversations seem to be mostly about repetition  It typically goes:

Mia: Prrrrt
Me: hello baby!
Mia: meow
Me: hello baby!
Mia: meow
Me: hello baby!
Mia: meow!
Me: what is it?
Mia: meow!
Me: what is it my girl?
Mia: meow!!
Me: what is it my baby?
Mia: meow!!!
Me WHAT IS IT?
Mia MEOW!!!!

And then I feed her

I talk to my cats AND talk back for them. I say what I know they're thinking. My friends think I'm totally nuts!

ME: Samantha, leave me alone, stop weaving round me, you'll get tripped over.
ME (for Samantha) Well if you'd hurry up and bloomin feed us I wouldn't do this.
ME: I'm going as fast as I can. Wait a minute.
ME (as Samantha) No, I'm hungry.
ME: Look, I'm opening the tin!
ME: (as Polly) About time too.
Silence reigns as cats stuff themselves........

Such conversations happen throughout the day!

Wonder why people think I'm nuts?

Ah, cat conversations, many a happy winter evening spent huddled around a radiator with mugs of hot Bovril discussing such subjects as the meaning life, the possible effects of CO2 on the world's atmosphere and occasionally a really deep subject such as the relative merits of different flavours of GoCat biscuits. I have to admit that I'm nor sure how intellectual my cats are and how much of it only exists in my mind, note to self, must get out more :), "What's that Frankie?". "I just don't see Solzenitzen as a Chicken, Duck and Rabbit man myself, what do you think Alf ? :)

Cheers

Paddy just wanted me to mention that he doesn't like Dostoevskey or any of then Ruskies.  Not 'cos he dunt like Ruskies - just the thought of all that cold cold snow.... Brrrrrrrr......   He would have said that himself but he's a bit preoccupied as he has a mouse moustache at the moment.  (Grrrrrrr!!!!!)  And he sez by the time you been working out how to say the names, you has nearly died of old age....!
