Kayla is a bit of a funny cat. She wont stick her head in her bowl to eat, she much prefers to put her paw in and lift a piece of meat and eat it off her paw:evillaugh:. Maybe madam would prefer some solid silver cutlery? Does anyone elses cat do this? Its so funny to watch :Luv2:

That reminds me of the old Kattomeat adverts with Arthur.

:evillaugh: thats exactly what she does.
-
Daisy sort of does both, she'll eat a bit then paw out bit's she cant get to or,if I'm in the kitchen, scream loudly for me to stir the food in her dish!
-
Our Willow (RIP) used to eat with her claw :Luv2:
PS - the disgusting-looking mess she was eating was gourmet gold double delicacies with binder paste added.

Fifi does it too - and hooks all biscuits out onto the floor -tried allsorts of different dishes ,but she still does it -there is wet food all over the floor after she has finished .
I am sure not that much gets eaten !
-
Billy Whiz does it too if you put food in a bowl. He eats normally if it's a flat plate so he always gets a flat plate :)
-
Pepsi won't eat from her paw but she picks up a mouthful of food, runs halfway across the kitchen with it (away from the plastic placemat designed to keep the mess contained :innocent:), drops it on the floor and then eats it off the floor.
-
Mogs used to make me laugh. She would spear a chunk of meat and then shake her paw until it flew off so she could chase it. Talk about a mess on the walls :evillaugh:
Amber on the other hand wouldnt realise if she wasnt fed !!!

I often get a rogue paw going towards my plate to see what they can fish off it. The worst offender is my oldie with renal failure.
-
Ella does it. We call it her go-go-gadget arm

Possum (RIP) used to take food we'd give her directly, and run off and sit in the corner to eat it. That is all well and good (quite cute really) but not when its a piece of stinky oily fish and she'd left a trail of juice all over the carpet!! :tired:
She would also think that everything on my plate was 'rightly hers' and with no hesitation, she'd get her paw and begin dabbing at my chicken or fish... :evillaugh:
Cooper and Peanut seem to be quite good (at the moment) and eat straight out of their bowls. They haven't tried to nick food off my plate (or OH's) but if I've had some toast and put the plate down (with a few crumbs left behind) then Peanut will have a little sample :shify:
-
I've noticed that Geoffrey does it when he has dental pain. Last year he suddenly stopped eating 'normally' and would only pick food up on his paw. It turned out that he had chipped one of his incisors. So although I'm sure many cats doing this are just funny little things with nothing to worry about, if a cat does it suddenly for no apparent reason, I would suggest a vet visit might be in order.
Got to love our kitties and their funny little ways, eh :Luv2:
-
Buster does this, I think it was cos he shared a pen with Arthur. He mainly does it when it is something he shouldnt have though, if he sits near you while you are eating, you have to watch for a paw snaking towars your plate!!

That's exactly what Foxy does! She has a way of sitting really close to me and watching every mouthful as it leaves the plate and goes into my mouth. If I pause for a fraction of asecond she thinks that's her cue to step in and try and paw off something from my plate! :naughty:

Sam/Mark,
Orbit was about 6 weeks old & was sitting on the arm of the sofa. She was eating beans on toast & Orbit tried to paw a bean off the plate. She threw the cat then the plate at the wall.
Orbit hit the wall about 4 feet up,hit the floor hard, ran around & collapsed, blood coming from his nose.
I picked him up & ran him to the vet down the street, whokept him in overnight.
I got home,we had a big row & split up that night.
I kept Orbit & he had 14 odd years of happiness, good food & love.
(Funnily enough I can remember it like it was yesterday!)
RIP Orbit,My bestest bud!

What an evil :censored: :censored: :censored:
After taking the poor cat to the vet i would have come back and literally thrown her at the wall , then outside and her clothes after her and then changed the locks .
Hope she rots in hell .

After the row & while she was packing,I went for a run to cool off otherwise I would have punched her lights out. (and I'm verhently against hitting women!) & on exiting the house,I ran into a couple RUC officers who advised me not to do anything stupid.
When I got back, she was outside waiting for a taxi!

Mervyn have just read what you put and can not believe anyone would do that to a kitten. I have one that was feral and it was a case when she was young that if you had Fish you would have to have the plate above your head or locked in a room away from her.
She is now 7 years old and will now wait for a piece of fish to be offered to her off my plate but as a kitten she would be determined to get the fish, I call this "Kitten Determination"
Just so you know she will come for cuddles and kisses on the top of her head and on the day I had my flu jab was nudging my arm right where I had the injection to get my attention and all that I did was tell her no and gave her kisses on the top of her head. She is still slightly wary of strangers but if they visit often enough she will go to them at arms length for a stroke but is just a cuddle bun with me.

Thanks,
The is a back story to this that might explain her behavior. When I first met her she was living in a bedsit & working in a shopping center,we started going out &,one Saturday while treating my dad to a lunch in his favorite cafe in Whitehead (where Dad was born) she announced that I had asked her to move in.(which I hadn't!)
So she did move in a few weeks later. Now I knew she had 2 daughters about 7 years old,who lived with her parents because, she said, they could provide a more stable environment & I knew she was divorced.
I later found out her parents had full custody of the girls & she had no unsupervised access & her ex was the one that had filed for divorce due to her temper.
She lived with me for about 3 months (of hell!) & I think I had a lucky escape there,as did Orbit!
Couple foto's of my mate relaxing & having his favorite treat,Ice cream! :naughty:

Mervyn that is shocking >:( poor kitty, you did well to keep your temper in check.
I enjoyed the responses everyone, nice to hear about other peoples kitties funny ways. Fluffybunny, nice to see you here (im shazzabunny on RU)

Very shocked to read about what happened to little Orbit as a kitten, Mervyn... >:(
My Lily fills her mouth up like a hamster and runs off to a quiet place to eat....She has always done this!! CoCo on the other hand just eats from her bowl, but she eats anything, she is terrible! You can't even leave your plate for a moment otherwise she'll have her face in your dinner regardless of what it is you're eating!!
I will never forget the day that Lily hoked and empty baked bean can out of the bin and got bean juice everywhere! She was covered and so was the floor and there were little bean juice paw prints everywhere...Poor little lady had to have a little bath that night, followed by lots of treats for being a good girl and letting me wash her! I never realised how much juice is actually left in a baked bean tin until the day that happened! What a mess!!!
