Title: Yet another naming thread
Post by: Ann Clarke (Tabby cat) on October 05, 2010, 23:08:14 PM
Some of you will have seen that I am soon to be lucky enough to have a new little girl joining me and Hobbes. Having lost my darling Dylan in December we have waited a long time for the right kitty to come along. I wanted to get one from Gateshead CP of course but the ones we have had in either hated other cats or needed to be outdoors. Anyway I have now been very lucky to be allowed to adopt Sherry from Sheba's litter who had to be hand reared as we sadly lost Sheba 2 days after she gave birth

I don't like the name Sherry so I want to change it but I'm stuck on what to call her. As you will guess from Hobbes' name I tend to like the more unusual ones so all suggestions gratefully received  ;D

I know how good you are at this so get your thinking caps on and here's a piccy or three of the lovely lady herself for inspiration  :Luv2:

Cally?  Short for Calvin (I know it's a boys name) as then you'd have Calvin & Hobbes  ;D

Funnily enough I thought of that one myself as a possibility, I was orginally going to get another boy so it was going to be Calvin so I would have Calvin and Hobbes but the best laid plans  Thanks for showing  C & H it's my fave cartoon strip  ;D

Some great suggestions folks keep them coming  :thanks:

Cally (or Callie) is looking like a strong favourite at the moment but I also like Cookie, Amber, Ariel and Autumn

Need to choose soon as she is coming home any day now  :scared:

Bet you're sooooo excited  :wow:

How about Kali as a variation on Cally/Callie - that was Lu's name in a former life when he was a girl for a few days  :evillaugh:

Ooh I like that idea, does Kali have any particular meaning Helen?

Poor Lu, I hope he isn't still traumatised from his early gender confusion

I chose it more for the fact that it ended in 'eee' rather than the meaning as I read that pet names ending in 'eee' are easier for them to learn and that they respond better (prob why Lucas gets called Lukey or Lu-eee most of the time!)

Anyway, just looked it up and it means...

It is of Hindi and Sanskrit origin, and the meaning of Kali is "black". Mythology: Kali, wife of Shiva, is a Hindu goddess of destruction. See also Kallie.

Doesn't bode well  :evillaugh:

My Norwegian boys are Kalle and Kyrre.    If we get a little girl at some stage I'm hoping to call her Kaira but have seen a lovely little girl called Kulali which I quite like as a name as well.      Lorelei is also a favourite.

She is gorgeous btw

Hmm maybe not such a good idea I don't want to give her any ideas I'm sure Hobbes will do that for me
