Title: me again .. another question
Post by: fluffycloud123 on April 09, 2007, 22:16:09 PM
im not toally stupid i promise

anyways.. can i have some tips on introducing both the cat (will be neutered before) and the kitten together?

and how to make them like one another. my current tom is a rather spoilt lil sod and is always centre of attention, currently sprawled out on my lap whilst i type this :)

the kitten isnt ready for another 5 weeks and we are not sure yet if its a boy or girl (shes taking them vets at some point)

which would be best for him boy or girl?

Dont worry, it is much better to ask questions that you might think are a bit stupid than struggle!!

IF you search for introductions, you should find some good links. OR someone else can post those, I am getting rather tired now!! Once both cats are neutered, there shouldn't be much difference in getting male or female - but it can take a while for your current boys hormones to settle down.

There is some good advice re introductions here

http://wizz-catz.co.uk/introducing.html

The important thing is to take it slowly.  Best to keep them apart to begin with and exchange their scent - eg put a towel in with one of them then the next day give the towel with that cat's scent on it to the other cat.  Once they've got used to each other's scent you can think about introducing them face to face.

Feliway can be useful to have around - it's a synthethic hormone that helps relax cats.  You can get it as a plug in diffuser or as a spray.

If they're neutered I don't think it makes much difference whether you have boys or girls tbh.
