One of my long term CP cats has not been too well for over a week now, I took him to the vets last week but apart from a temperature the Vet could find nothing wrong. A week of antibiotics has made no improvement in his condition, something is not quite right and he has not been eating well at all. Last night all I could tempt him with was a dish of a/d and this morning he did not want to know. Bank holiday again, it happens every time I always need to call a vet. Our vets use Vetsnow for emergency cover, fortunately as many of you know Eric has given me his personal number for 24/7 cover so before 9 o'clock we were on our way, the vet bless him lives quite a few miles away from the surgery. The vet can now tell a difference in the feel of Peewee's kidneys so he has been admitted poor boy he is the only patient in the hospital. Tomorrow he is having bloods and a biopsy taken.
P.S. That pen is now long gone from the lounge, it is just for emergencies.

aw only 11 how come he never found a forever home ela ?
Long story. Peewee came into care as a kitten weighing less than 1lb in an appalling state, it took many weeks for him to win the battle of life, just when we thought he had fully recovered he developed a severe eye problem and for many weeks needed treatment for that. He deserved, the right to live, (don't they all), however, he has a medical problem that one vet said he had only known in horses before. Often he smells like an unneutered tom and due to his eye problems needs to be kept as an indoor cat, also he will jump on anything on four legs that moves. So he can only mix with the other cats when I am in otherwise all hell could be let loose.

Awww he is beautiful i hope he gets better real soon

Best wishes for Peewee Ela

Sending positive thoughts and get better prayers to Darlin Peewee :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
-
Thaqnk you for your kind thoughts, it is appreciated.

When will you know the results Ela?
-
My daughter collected him this afternoon but very difficult to get him to eat. although he ate a/d at vets. The biopsy has been sent off today, so I am hoping I may know something by weekend. He doesn't look unwell at all, but something is obviously wrong.
-
Fingers crossed for the results.
-
Ela, sending lots of purrs to you and Peewee - what a beautiful little boy.
-
How is Peewee now, ela? Have you got his test results back yet?
-
No results, I am hoping today. It is such a worry as he looks so well. You really cannot tell anything is wrong bu looking at him. Yesterday I purchased every type of Cat food you cat think of, he runs up to the dish then walks away. He has had a little a/d this morning. if I put some out of the tin he refuses it yet if I put int in a syringe and then squirt in in the dish he will eat it. Last night I left some of that and a bit of very well mashed Whiskas Supermeat. he had the a/d and some of the Supermeat. Obviously something is very wrong.
-
I hope Peewee improves Ela and you can get him interested in some food, and hope that the test results will show what's up with the poor little guy. He looks adorable.
-
Have you tried pilchards in tomato sauce?
Its horrible waiting for results to come back :(
-
Have you tried pilchards in tomato sauce?
Yes thank you, I have tried everything I can think of, the other cats are having a tea party each meal time as I don't want to waste it all. One of the reasons for this is that I always think something has lost its life for food and to throw it away then seems not right. (I am not talking about the bit of food I put in Peewees dish thought as I do throw that away).
-
Fingers crossed for this darling little puss; he's had such a battle do hope he comes through this.

The test results have come back, unfortunately they are not conclusive. Eric feel almost certain Peerwee has feline lymphoma. I am taking him back ti the vets at 11 o'clock tomorrow, sadly I don't think I will be bringing him home. It is so sad as he looks so well although the back part of his body is now almost 'going in', that I expect is due to lack of food, he runs up to a dish, smells it sometimes has a lick but that is it. Since Saturday I have given him a/d via syringe but you cannot syringe for ever and it is not fair, obviously there is a reason why he won't eat. Although Peewee looks well, is purring and keeps jumping on my knee I can tell how he holds his body sometimes and the fact that he is sitting in places he has never done before all is not well. You just know don't you. :(
-
I have just caught up with Peewee's story and I am really sorry to hear that things don't look promising for this lovely little fellow.
-
Oh, poor little babe. We all know you will do whatever's best for him tomorrow x
-
Sorry to hear that Ela
-
So sorry to hear this Ela, we all know you will do the right thing by him. Big hugs to you.
-
I have just got back from the vets with Peewee. As he looks so well he is being given a last chance tomorrow. His Kidneys have reduced in size but apparently are now harder. Eric is going in to see if he can see anything and if necessary take another biopsy from a part of the kidney that may look is a problem. Off course if he see anything and he knows for sure there is no point in going on, I will let Peewee go while under anaesthetic. I see no reason to bring him round so I can go and be with him to be PTS later that day. I do however want to be 100% sure that nothing can be done.
-
Ela, so sorry, it is so difficult and you are doing absolutely everything you can for Peewee - thinking of you.
-
Oh Ela i'm so sorry :'( :'( My love, thoughts and prayers are with you and darlin Peewee

I hope there may be a glimmer of hope for this little one Ela, you are doing all you can, and can do no more
-
Lets hope against all odds he pulls through this. Wishing you both good luck :Luv:
-
hope everything turns out ok for little pee wee ela
-
Fingers crossed for today Ela.
-
I am going to collect little Peewee in a couple of hours and then I will just have to wait for the results. Eric says he wasn't 100% sure when he went in although it didn't look good he wants to give him the benefit of the doubt, so a sample will be sent off to clarfy once and for all. At least then I will know everything possible has been done.
-
Give him a gentale cuddle from me Ela. Sending love and prayers to you both :Luv:
-

Big hugs to him - when will you get the results Ela?
-
Perhaps tomorrow, I am dreading it as I know what I will have to do if the test prove conclusive. Peewee looks so well you would never know there was anything wrong with him. I have never taken a cat that looks well to be PTS before. But there is no point in syringe feeding when you know that things will get worse and he would at sometime start to suffer. I think syringe feeding is OK if it is a means to an end and you know that the little one has a good chance of recovery, but not to keep a cat alive a little longer when it has a terminal illness. :( I think that is what I think anyway.
-
It is hard to take a cat that looks well to be pts, but I always think it is better to do it while they still have some quality of life and dignity, than wait and them maybe suffer. I agree with syringe feeding in these situations too, I will never do it just to buy some time in those situations, as I feel I would be buying the time for me, and not the cat. Will be thinking of you and him tomorrow Ela.
-
sorry ela only caught up with this.
i agree with the syringe feeding entirely and should be used when theres hope of recovery.
-
Eric has just rung Peewee does have cancer of the kidneys, I asked when I could take him so I don't have to wait, fortunately he said I can go in a few mins and to go round the back and he will see me.
I feel so terrible as Peewee looks so well and he keeps coming onto my lap and purring, although his back end is getting thinner. But I know what I must do. I cannot write any more as my body is shaking and I cannot see very well.
-
Oh Ela, I'm so sorry.
-
So sorry Ela, you've done everything you can for this little one, its just so sad that some things are beyond our control :'(
Thinking of you hun
-
so sorry ela. I can only say you are doing whats best and this little one is going for a sleep fortunately before he feels ill.
-
He went very peacefully. Eric was waiting for us to arrive so we didn't have to wait even a few seconds. Bless him. He said he wished more people would make 'the decision' rather tha wait until they can see the pet is really suffering.
-
 Ela
I am glad he went peacefully. I always felt a "happiness" when they just slip away. I dont mean that horribly but i also felt terrible for the owners if the loved pet struggled or fought it.
RIP Peewee.
-
So sorry ela,
I know the right decision in often the hardest but you spared him pain and sickness. Poor baby :'(
-

I know exactly what you mean.
At least now Peewee will be with Badger who was Pee's best friend. The funny thing is Pee was one of my youngest cats and the most healthy or so it seemed.
-
Oh Ela   I'm so sorry hun . You did the most loving thing possible for Pee, you saved him from suffering and pain that was going to happen. He will always be with ya hun, always in ya heart and he will be playing on the bridge with Bager and all our lads and lasses up there. :grouphug:
Rest in Peace sweetheart :ahh:

Ela, I am so sorry to hear the news wasn't better for him, but you did the right thing by letting him go sooner rather than later, and I wholeheartedly agree with your vet. RIP little one.
