Was just driving back from my local Asda and noticed the car in front slowing down and avoiding something.
as I was driving past I thought it was a cat.
Stopped the car and as I was running towards it I could see it was moving its legs. But a car came down and I saw it drive straight over the cat.
By the time I got to the cat it was taking its last breath. I feel so traumatised. I have never come across a cat thats been hit by a car.
I rang the RSPCA but as its passed on it was too late. I have moved the cat to the side of the road on the grass verge. It didn't have a collar on so I couldn't find the owner. I hope that was the right thing to do.
I hope the person who ran it over as I was approaching gets their just desserts. It was still alive before and I will never know if it could have been saved. If only I was a few minutes earlier. The vision of seeing this is really hurting right now.
I'm so sorry I couldn't help you little Tabby. I hope you can find peace at the rainbow bridge. I pray you didn't suffer.
Rest in peace little one. I have shed a tear for you.

:'( Oh Phillip I'm so sorry, it must be awful for you, I once found a cat after it had been run over and I never have forgotten it
Would it be possible to take it to a vets to check for a microchip then the owners would have closure? I also think that the vets would keep it so long in case they are contacted of a missing cat?
RIP sweet little one xx

I cant get the vision of what I just saw out of my head. It's horrible.
-
I'm going to go back and put it in a black bag and place it so the council can find it in the morning.
Have just checked their website and they scan all dead domestic animals so if it is chipped at least the owner will know.
I cant settle just knowing it is lying there and its raining.
-
As horrible as the whole thing is Philip I think that is a really good idea.
Hopefully even if the cat is not chipped the Council may keep a record of the poor little babe so if its owner makes enquiries then they would be able to confirm that a cat fitting their description was brought in then at least they would know.
Hug to you Philip and RIP little tabby

Just got back from doing it.
At least I definitely know no one else will see the body like I did and its protected against the rain.
I have been dreading this day. I hoped the day would never come where I find someone Else's cat hit by a car.
I just couldn't settle until I did this.

Sorry Philip  - It was bad enough when I found a cat last year that had just been killed - but it must be so much worse to see it happen :( - People really don't pay enough attention to the road. I still think it is up to owners to keep their cats safe from roads.
RIP little Tabby :'(

Me too Mark.

I couldn't sleep last night. Kept playing over the moment that car hit that poor cat again and again.

Philip how awful for you
When youput the little one in the bag did you leave the bag open .... the council will only scan domestic animals if they know there is a domestic animal in the bag.
Maybe you could do a little found poster and put it in the area that little one passed just in case it didn't have a chip and someone is looking for him/her.
RIP little soul xxx

No I tied it shut so no foxes would hopefully touch it and to try and preserve it from the bad weather.
I phoned the council today and told them where I left it. They thanked me and said it would be picked up.
They said they would scan it. I'm sure they will be able to identify whats in the bag by feeling round it. I left it in a specific place and I'm sure no one will leave another black bag there.
I go past where I left it on the way to work so I will check tomorrow morning.

RIP Tabby

Checked this morning and the body has been removed.
Just hoping it was chipped so the owner/s can have some closure.
