Not sure whether this thread should go under Health & Behaviour, but mods can move it if required.
Rajah our indoor cat is going to be home alone for the first time for a full week starting on Sunday, 29th August. We have booked a holiday in Corfu and although the neighbours are going to feed and water him whilst we are gone, I am very aware that he may get lonely because we are such a close knit family and he is definitely a major part of our unit.
Although he knows the neighbours, he is still hides when they come around to visit because he is naturally quite a timid boy. He sleeps a lot of the time, but he still enjoys our company and at least one of us are at home at any given time, and it's only on weekends when we go shopping or are at church that he is ever left alone for long. Am I being silly or do I have reason to worry?

I wouldn't worry too much for a week although he may ignore you for a bit when you get back as punishment!

leave some
sweaty well worn clothes such as fleeces where he likes to sleep so he has the scent of you

Thank you, I feel a bit better now. There is always bits of clothing lying about somewhere in my house, so he should be fine in that regard.

I am sure Rajah will be fine. I am worried about putting mine in a cattery next June!! It will be our first time away since we got them and I know they will struggle. We won;t really know our neighbours so I would feel funny about giving them keys. I know ella and Effie would probably be a lot more settled at home tho.
