BBC news have just announced they will be doing a "piece" about the problems faced by cat charities regarding rehoming cats and kittens. They said it will be on before 10.00 this morning.

They had a vet nurse on from the Blue Cross, she had a kitten with her, who understandably, was a little unsettled, and lively!
He had been found by a member of the public, so the microchip message was plugged there.
She said that they offered low cost neutering and that there were too many cats being bred and not enough homes.
She said that they get cats dumped outside their properties but with no history about the cats, vaccinations have to be restarted and nothing is known about their socialising they may have had.
The presenter asked if the reason people didn't just hand them in the normal way is because they are perhaps worried they may get a lecture?
She answered that the Blue Cross is always there to help anyone with a cat problem.

Good points.
I'd love to see the main animal rescue charities club together for a series of TV "public broadcasts" (that term ages me :)) or appearances generally including kiddies TV that really hammers home the problem with back street breeding being directly linked to overcrowding in rescues in an effort to make it more of a socially unacceptable practice.
I'm sure they could easily find a well known celeb to front it. It's funny how people pay more attention to celebs than "real" people :innocent:

The same nurse was on again just now. I missed the beginning, but she did say that too many cats are being bred from, some perhaps accidently, and cats can have kittens as young as four and a half months. :(

The thing is, the kind that let cats breed aren't exactly the brightest and most probably don't even watch the news or read. :tired:

Missed this but so agree.
A customer of Steve's , his cat is just having her 2nd litter. I asked him if he will be having her neutered after and he is but i asked him why he let her get pregers again and he said cause her 1st litter were so pretty, all the kittens got snapped up and they were asked for more from her!! :( :censored: They didn't charge for them as they went to friends and it was the friends that asked for more kittens from her.
He also said that he wanted his kids to have the experience of kittens being born :( :(
I gave him a bit of a lecture as nicely as poss!!! :shify:
