I took a call on the branchline today from a lovely couple. Little Honey is around 6/7 weeks old and had appeared in their garden a few days ago. It's a small village and everyone in the village had no knowledge of her. :( Honey has developed the snuffles and the couple became concerned about her fending for herself even though it's nice weather. They bundled her in a basket but the only place to keep her save was in their garage.
We are really up to the gunnels but we couldn't turn our backs on a sickly stray (dumped??!!) kitten so Faith, Hope and Charity have gone to an emergency pen and I am having Honey because she needs meds and there's basically only me and Angela (Pudding) not on holiday and not afraid to medicate a kitten. Angela already has 6 kittens so that just leaves me. :tired:
She was so tired, so hungry and so grateful to be rescued it's made me cry because she seems to sense she is safe now. All she wants is cuddles and she fell asleep purring in my arms. She's having a good rest now snuggled up to her teddy bear. :naughty:
I try not to think how she ended up on her own because it just makes me cross. >:(
-
poor little thing. :Luv2:
It's madness at the moment isn't it.
-
I keep saying every year is the worst yet, Angie, but as soon as I say it, it gets worse. :shy: The trouble is we are not rehoming anything so we're all gridlocked. The enquiries we get to adopt we don't have anything suitable for so end up passing homes on to other branches. We don't seem to get any back in return though. :innocent:
Even the kittens can't find homes to what chance do the adults have. :(
-
Aw bless you Julie and bless little Honey. This has brought tears to my eyes. I'm sure she'll thrive under your loving care. :Luv2:
-
What a cutie!! Glad she's safe with you, Julie. :)
-
Just a little beauty Julie :Luv: . She'll be running you wragged before long
-
Just had another good cuddle and a good inspection. She's crawling with fleas - to the point that her little white blanket is now pink with flea droppings - and the Frontline spray the vet administered this afternoon doesn't seem to have made much impact so far. :tired: So Aunty Angela... if you're reading... do you have anymore of those Stronghold kitten spot ons left??? :innocent:
She's still very tired and a bit wobbly as she obviously feels unwell but has managed a few bleats of protest to make me feel guilty for not spending ALL my time cuddling her. :evillaugh:
-
Awww shes adorable! :Luv2:
-
:Luv: bless her, glad she's now safe
-
:car: Spot on on its way.!
-
Aw bless her, she's a cutie :Luv:
Glad she's with you now
-
:car: Spot on on its way.!
I thank you, Honey thanks you, but Honey's little collection of pet wildlife creatures.... they don't thank you! :evillaugh:
The wormer Uncle Simon gave her seems to have worked at least in part. You do not want to know what I found in her litter tray this morning.
She is a little brighter today and I think she approves of her nice, clean hotel suite. She's starting to clean her coat up as well. :naughty: I will know she feels a lot better when she starts to play. :)
-
arrr she is beautiful hun :Luv: and will be more so in your loving care :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
-
She is lovely and hope her visitors leave soon ;D
-
she is lovely I hope feels better now her guests have vacated
-
Glad to hear she's already improving. Hurrah for Honey! (And you as well, Julie. ;))
-
Well two and a half days later Madam is a different kitten and is bombing around like a lunatic. Thanks to Pudding coming over with the Stronghold, all visitors are now gone. :) She still looks slightly preggers with all those worms but I'm sure the tum has gone down a bit now. I think thanks also has to go to Synulox as it only took 3 doses for all her snuffles to go completely. :shy:
She has to play with ALL the toys ALL at once at the same time as tearing around like an Asbo lad in a stolen Clio. It's like she's on speed. :evillaugh: Will try to get more pics tomorrow IF she stays still long enough.
-
How wonderful Julie :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
-
Sounds just like Soap when she came to me...she had some unwanted friends, wormy pot belly, was pretty quiet, just wanted to cuddle and didn't know how to play with toys (she had been kept in a larder cupboard for the majority of the time for the first few months of her life :(
A few days later she was tearing around the plays with all the toys, chasing Bourneville and Marble about and running rings round Esco...then she earnt her place in Purrs Naughty Club!!
Glad you are seeing a change in Honey so quickly...its amazing how quickly they bounce back with the right care and attention :)
-
Bless her naughty little heart. :Luv: :Luv:
-
What an absolute sweetheart :Luv:
I wish I could take on some more puds in need, but I'm restricted by my tenancy agreement to just two pets at a time :(
As soon as I get my own place I will definately be taking in some more furbabes.
Do you think the tenancy agreement includes temporary lodgers? if not maybe I could foster.
-
Carolyn, I think you're lucky renting a place that allows pets at all. We were recently looking to rent and couldn't find anything. Some place would allow one cat but we have 2 plus a dog. :tired: Thankfully we may not need to move now, but if we do we face some awful decisions. :'(
Anyway, as you can see Madam Honey is progressing well. Still a bit of old gunk around her eyes but she won't let me clean them. I don't want to force the issue as it's enough that she has to have meds twice a day still.
She has formed a strong bond with the kitten tree and loves a game of footie. :evillaugh:
-
Shes adorable, and obviously thriving in your care x
-
What a little beauty! :Luv2: Thank goodness you were able to take her in
-
Oh Wow!! My heart just melted!!!!
If she had arrived in my garden, I would be telling Ella and Effie they had a new sister!
-
It didn't take Madam long to sort out her long term plans.
Friends/clients of OH has fallen in love with her photo after OH showed them what made him late for work one morning. :evillaugh: For days they had been seriously thinking and dithering about adopting Honey. They are long term cat lovers and did have a 20 year old cat called Cleo and a six year old. The 20 year old has been quite ill for the last few weeks and it was really her that stopped them immediately wanting to take Honey on. But suddenly Cleo took a dramatic turn for the worse last night and took the matter out of their hands. She went to the Bridge on the advice of the vet. :( Their remaining cat, Suki, is a very sociable puss and is already pining for the cat that just died. So she definitely needs a new playmate to help her adjust. :sneaky:
I've just recieved word that they want to officially adopt Honey and have asked me to start the ball rolling. They say it feels like a touch of fate at work here. :) Honey is going to live in a penthouse suite in Wimbledon complete with the run of not one but two penthouse flats linked with cat flaps and a 300 square foot private planted patio over looking Wimbledon common. She's done well for herself! :briggin:

Great stuff, Julie! Good luck in your new home, Honey. :Luv:
-
Madam is almost ready but we still need to clear up a leaky eye before she can be vac. :shy: Her new mum and dad are going to call her Trixie and she has already recieved a package of goodies addressed to Ms. Trixie MacWherter c/o me. :evillaugh:
-
Awww bless! Honey's new mum and dad sound wonderful! :Luv2:
-
Such a lovely story :Luv:. looks like she is going to have a wonderful life!

Honey went off to her new home a few days ago. By all accounts she has turned the house upside down and her new owners are delighted with the fact. Well and truly unpacked her suitcase and is staying put. :evillaugh: They sent me this pic.... the crafty mare is actually winking at the camera.
-
Little gorgeous baby!! Hope she brings them joy !
