I think Sage (our resident skitty kitty) would love one, but they're so expensive. Has anyone found a reasonably priced stockist?
-
you would have to define expensive :)

Over £15. My partner would blow a gasket (understandably) if I spent too much on a pet bed seeing as we already have 12, but I think she'd benefit from it in terms of feeling less threatened.
-
I got mine earlier this year in the Vetuk sale.

I think they are probably still the cheapest. The larger one would be needed for most cats to be comfortable in (50cm). I think I paid £17 for ours in SCATS countrystores. Willow spent her last days in our one :( - I think Clapton might use it while he is getting better.
They have a similar thing on eBay but it doesn't look as deep - £10 delivered.

I looked at those, Mark and came to the same conclusion as you. They don't look as deep so won't be as effective as a hiding place..... ;) I couldn't even see them on VetUK!

They keep their shape after washing.

Thats cheap, my cat beds were £30 each

I'd NEVER spend £30 on a cat bed....I'm a terrible person, clearly. ;) Our cats have a selection of beds already - they include: two heated wellness padded beds, two hammocks, an Ikea chaise, a fleece cord affair they all seem to like, two igloos and various wicker baskets.....
Thanks for the link, Mark. :)
-
have to admit me neither :evillaugh: I've seen this lot prefer to lie on the floor next to the beds, so don't think I would spend 30 quid on more ornaments :)
-
Bit like this....
-
more like right out of the bed and on the floor :lol2:
I have found they will use the beds if I put them up a height like on top of a wardrobe, I have three up there now and all see usage. other than that only the hammock see's (sp) use.
-
See, I get worried about that after I put a cardboard box mine were all obsessed with on top of the fridge and one of them jumped in it, skidded and went flying. It was terrifying, the cat in question (Astryd) felt the same way and I've never put a bed high up for them since. Poor girl, she was so shook up.
-
I think I've been lucky with the wardrobe as its 6 feet up and they have to get onto there before getting in to the baskets, one is a really big litter tray that I bought before deciding to go with hooded trays, I caught them using it as a bed so just lined it with old blankets and towels, hey presto instant and well liked bed :)
-
Ahhh, that makes sense. Darwin sleeps on top of the kitchen cupboards a lot; he terrifies me because he'll lie up there and stretch out in his sleep and I just stand there waiting to catch him if he falls. :shy:
-
Another question - do people have the small size....and do cats actually FIT in them?! They sound really small.... :shy:
-
Whenever I have been foolish enough to get the girls beds they ahve looked at me like I am a fool and just sprawled on the couch!
-

I came to that conclusion with many cat products - beds, tunnels, hidey holes in trees, litter trays, carriers - when I got Noah (one stone  ). I think the manufacturers expect slaves to spend the most money when they adopt a new cat and that, more often than not, that cat is still a kitten. Presumably most people who get a pedigree take on a kitten, and if they are willing to spend money on the cat itself ... the manufacturers are not going to mind if the cat subsequently grows out of their product! :innocent:
-
Willow was 2.5kg and she had the larger one. I think the small would have been too small even for her tiny frame. Not all cats like sleeping curled up in a full circle - especially as they get older, it must be uncomfortable.
These were taken a couple of weeks before she died :'(
A small might have been big enough for her, but for a regular size cat....
She started sleeping on the floor in the corner of the bedroom so I squashed the bed in between the bedside table & radiator :Luv2:
(rubbish photos :shy: )
-
I have a feeling ours is the large one too
-
I spotted this for $8.00 today, and it had barely hit the floor before it was occupied. She hasn't moved since, not even when I put more food out ...
-
Mine's not a Danish bed, but similar - can fit 2 in mine lol! :evillaugh:

I really like these beds - where are they from and do they wash well in the machine?

They're really nice aren't they, I love how they match the wallpaper too!
I have a very similar bed (from PAH) and sadly they don't wash well at all. The first time it needed a wash was in the cattery funnily enough! It was my two young boys' first time away from home and despite having impeccable toilet habits at home one of them repeatedly weed in their bed as he was so frightened :(
Anyway, the stuffing from the flat bit they sleep on bunched up inside the material and the colour ran badly too.

only room for one Tiffany in mine

I love the way her little head is just peeping over the top! :Luv2:

I still have my one - it must be 3 years now? I think they were only about £10 in PAH sale?
Ours also faded in the wash and stuffing sticking out but Kylie loves it and favours it over all the other beds - including posh ones

I think mine was £9 in the sale, never forget a bargain :evillaugh: The boys are 3 1/2ish now so 3 years ago sounds about right which, on the face of it, sounds a good innings for a bed but the stuffing realignment/colour running happened on the first few washes - it's still in use though although there's only room for one cat in it now! :)

I must be losing my touch. I often see OHs eyes glaze over when I list my latest bargains and how much they were :evillaugh:
-
Mine just sleep wherever they want, we have an igloo, a bed and a bed on a stand but they insist on sleeping on beds, chairs, the sofa and my £100 bean bag that was a wedding present. Pretty much anywhere other than their beds!
-
I bought one of these on saturday. think it is the small one - I just didn't think about size! I thought no way will they fit in there but both have managed it. Jaffa slept for about 2 hours in it last night completely folded in 2!! He loves it. Jaffa is a big cat (not fat but long) so if he can fit in it, most cats will be able to. But they will need to be happy sleeping curled up. Mosi curled up in it too but he's a bit smaller than Jaffa and can curl up into a tiny little ball. I will try and get a pic of Jaffa in it if I can - he looked so cute. He's a bit obsessed with the bed and likes to sit in it peering over the top. I paid £17.99 for it.
-
The large one looks quite small as well
Ours hasn't been used since willow, but it seems we will be offering another pampered life soon, so...
-
Mark are you and Dennis becoming parents again ;D

...Enquiring minds want to know..... :shify:
Susanne, the small one wouldn't fit Sages somewhat comely shape in it. :shy: She's a gorgeous girl, but rather *ahem* rounded.
-
OH keeps asking if we can adopt Tommy. There are a couple of issues - the main one being Kylie. She used to sleep on the bed, but for 5 years, she missed out as Willow always claimed it. She has just started sleeping on the bed again and I really don't want to make her to feel sidelined again :shy:
Also, in the link, there is a mention of Dolly - I can't see a photo of her, so wonder if she has been adopted - would be odd though if they are close.

Mark both of them look lovely and would probably keep each other amused and as they are shy they will probably not do the bed thing - majority of ours love the bed just not when we are in it
-
Jaffa does look funny in the small one. You know how they sort of fold themselves over? He was like that but he slept in it for a couple of hours so must have been comfy!
