Ok here it is people..firstly!! how are you all anyway..enjoying this lovley weather i hope..
A friend whos a vet has told me that cats shouldn't have a wet diet at all..& in pets at home (other leading pet stores are available ;) )..the shelves that are marked in black are the things that a cat should be eating & the ones in orange aren't...i'm confused as i thought a wet & dry diet was the best option as a purely dry diet didn't have enough protein in it...i get her point that the juices from the wet food can stay around their gums & cause decay but is using dental biscuits not enough to help get rid of this... :stupid:

Don't mean to be rude but think your friend is having you on, either that or they are just talking complete rubbish! I don't have any links or scientific facts to hand but what does she think cats eat in the wild - dry biscuits? They eat small creatures who are mainly moisture - such as rodents, birds etc so it's completely natural for them to eat wet food.
I go for the 50/50 approach myself!

Thanks helen..it does make sense that 50/50 is the way forward..thats what i do & i'm sticking to it so there :P

A have heard vets say both. When I got Kylie, the vet in Holloway said that wet food sticks to their teeth like toffee. I suppose neither wet nor dry is perfect. A mouse or bird is probably just right.
I am surprised how many vets spout such nonsense about food.

well i try to do 50 50 with teh kittens (ok i know theyre all grown up now! :evillaugh:) but the older girls often have a little snackette when they go off hunting.....so they get some wet some dry and a takeaway every so often! :evillaugh:

Hmmm...
I prefer a predominantly wet diet to ensure adequate fluid intake. Make sure it has a high meat content - cats are obligate carnivores - and less cereal.
As a former retailer myself, and one who still works in the industry, I wouldn't worry too much about the point-of-sale material if I were you.
