Title: GRRRRRR This makes me SO MAD!!!!
Post by: sunnysue on July 16, 2010, 15:37:32 PM
Just browsing on gumtree and came across this advert. It made me sooo cross. Because they have a new tiny lil cute kitten, they want rid of the resident cat. Seriously, some people just shouldn't have pets. Makes me so mad I could scream. Wonder what will happen when the lil one grows up and isn't so cute anymore.
 >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Sorry folks. Rant over.

sorry we do not allow this sites links on purrs so have deleted the link and we also do not like even the sites name mentioned

Totally agree with you Sue  You can only hope that the poor cat goes to a home where he or she is loved and wanted  :(

P.S The reason we don't allow the g**tree links is because it unwittingly advertises the site in question for them and makes them higher on google searches etc when they shouldn't be allowed to 'sell' animals in the first place  :(

Oh I see.  I wouldn't want that to happen because of my post.  Thanks for deleting it.

Quite rightly so. I wish people were given a proper explanation as to why the links aren't allowed rather than cold, despotic statement which can upset and/or offend someone that is new to purrs. It may well be in the rules but people can't be expected to know. Note to mods. It is denied that posts are allowed depending on who you are but it is true. Please can this link be removed and the poster given a lecture in the name of fairness. Posted by someone who does know the rules but posted it anyway. If it was someone else, a ton of bricks would have landed on them.

Edit - thanks for explaining properly Helen.

Although it's absolutely terrible that these people think it's acceptable to get rid of their exsiting cat to make way for a kitten, at least they're trying to find the cat a home. Too many people just hand the cat over to a rescue or even worse dump it somewhere and never look back  >:( My gorgeous boy Figaro was skin and bones and living with ferals when I found him - he was entire and I suspect he was dumped when he got too big and started spraying. He's FIV+, which I blame completely on his original owners leaving him to fend for himself  :censored: Some people shouldn't be allowed pets  >:( Sorry, rant over, I just really hate people who don't take care of their pets  :(

The problem is Susan that some people who use these sites will just hand over the cat to anyone without doing any proper checks, and therefore these cats might end up having a very nasty fate - at least ones who are given to a rescue will be given vet care, and proper checks done on their new owner.

I remember a news story a couple of  years ago where a dog breeder wanted sympathy as she had arranged to sell a puppy and someone went to her house and snatched the dog at the door without paying. I had zero sympathy for her -  had the "person" handed over the cash, she was quite willing to let it go to an unknown fate.

Fair point Desley and Mark, hadn't thought of it like that. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of the people who just dump their unwanted pets in the street/move away without a backward glance, like my poor old Figaro. There's quite a lot of that going on round here at the moment - mainly students who like the idea of a pet during term time then just leave it behind when they go home during the summer  :(

I recently caught two feral babies and tamed them with every intention of handing them over to a rescue to be rehomed...but then kept them ( :evillaugh:) because I couldn't bear the thought of them ending up with someone who didn't care for them properly - I know rescues do home checks etc (had one of those myself), but I still worried in case they went to someone who wasn't so bothered after they stopped being kittens.
