Title: Please keep an eye on your cats interest in bees
Post by: Lottie (Team Svartalfheim's) on June 10, 2010, 13:53:10 PM
I am too upset at the moment to say much but now the flowers are out in bloom please please please keep an eye on your cat near bees especially if they look like they are trying to catch them in their mouth as due to a bee sting to the back of the mouth/throat I now have 7 kittens who don't have a mummy any more  :'( :'(

Thanks everyone. I'm just pretty shell shocked at the moment still. The guy at the pet crem won't be back until 7pm so I'll be driving Minxy down to them then. I've snuggled her up in her carrier in her favourite bedding. I was with her when she came into the world and I was with her when she left. I just expected far far more than 2yrs 6 months between the 2 events :'( :'(

I only let her outside into the run for an hour to give her a bit of a break from the kittens as they are always clambering all over her (at nap time Minxy is a head and a tail sticking out from underneath the pile of kittens on top of her) The kittens are just breaking my heart as they are crying for their Mummy and don't understand why she isn't coming when they call for her  :'( :'(

I'd never really paid much attention to bees before but I certainly will in future and I just wanted to remind people to keep an eye out now there are a fair few about enjoying the flowers.

:( :( :(

Lottie I am so upset by the news.
Minxy was and will remain the main reason why I came to you as a breeder. The photos of her stole my heart on your website and I knew Boopy would produce stunning kittens again , and she did :Luv: :Luv:)

She was the most stunning NFC and I am so glad to have met her and to have one of her babies will now mean even more

I took this picture of her proudly looking at 3 of her kittens on my last visit.

:RIP: :RIP:  Sending you and all the  kittens lots of hugs and kisses, speak soon xxxxxx

Poor Minxy -

I will keep my eyes open. Zubin got stung in the mouth about 2 years ago by a wasp, so I am vigulant about those, but will look out for bees too as I know both Zubi & Zebedee like to chase them.

Lottie I am totaly shocked - MEGA hugs

She is at the pet crematorium now (she's at Balmedie Liz). I had one of those smiling and crying moments when I got there as the man went to look in the carrier and was shocked how big she was and when I put her in the coffin in the chapel of rest (they have one coffin for cats and smaller breeds of dogs and a huge one for big dogs) and she had to go diagonally into the smaller of the 2 as she was too long to go normally lengthways and she only just fitted diagonally, bless her heart. He's going to give me a ring next Mon/Tues about picking her up so it won't be long until I get her back home with me. Closing the lid on her and walking out was the hardest thing I think I've ever done. From the night she was born (2yrs, 6 months, 9 days and 2hrs 9 mins ago)  I have never been in the house without her as we have only been apart if I have been away.

In a way I feel a bit better now she's not in the house as she wasn't 'Minxy' anymore if that makes sense and so having a cat who looked exactly like Minxy but 'wasn't' Minxy in the house from when it happened until 7pm was even more upsetting.

Really really sad to hear your sad news Lottie *hugs*

Bless you for highlighting the danger of bees (and wasps)

Esco (my dog) got stung in the mouth last year and his reaction was so bad that an antehistamin (sp) didn't help and he had to go to the vets for a steroid injection.

I'm so careful with all the animals now and if there is ever a bee or wasp in the house (one of them will usually let me know) I make sure I get it straight out the nearest window.

Thinking of u at this sad time xxx

Thank you everyone. If she'd been ill or something it would be easier to deal with but when she was in perfect health and it was just a freak accident it's so much harder :(

I put a heatpad wrapped in a fluffy blanket in with the kittens last night so all bar 1 of them slept snuggled up to that although there has been a fair amount of crying from them but I am trying to keep them distracted with toys. The one who was very very close to her Mummy (she was like Minxy's shadow) is not really moving from outside the wardrobe as Minxy always used to rush into it at any chance she got so With One Look seems convinced that her Mummy is in the wardrobe and so is waiting for her to come out and crying for her  :'( :'(

The kittens were 12 weeks old yesterday but were still suckling and everything. I only let her out in the run due to the fact it was the kittens 12 week birthday and therefore they'd be leaving in a few weeks time so thought it would be good for her to have a break from them as she never lets them out of her sight.

So very sorry to hear this:

If we could bring you back again,
For one more hour or day,
We’d express all our unspoken love;
We’d have countless things to say.

If we could bring you back again,
We’d say we treasured you,
And that your presence in our lives
Meant more than we ever knew.

If we could bring you back again,
To tell you what we should,
You’d know how much we miss you now,
And if we could, we would.
