Title: Pregnant cat, Derby - rescued and now with Coventry Cats
Post by: JackSpratt on May 27, 2010, 19:41:56 PM
MY PARENTS ARE GETTING EVICTED SO UNFOURTUNATLY THEY NEED A HOME FOR 2 YEAR OLD BROWN/BLACK MILLY.

we will -provide food and everything neded. This is a hearbreaking situation but cats protection won't help as all their cats have flu and no-one else will. All we need is a loving home for this very friendly cat. \She is due to have her kittens soon so a home without a dog pleasee

Please send reply if you have space in your heart and home for milly x x

Can anyone help? Have emailed asking for contact info and letting them know I've posted on here.

Does she mean that the Derby branch of CP aren't taking in cats?

I'd recommend that she rings head office of CP to see if any other local branches could take in (although we're all stretched to the limit at the moment!)

03000 12 12 12 is the number of the helpline x

I haven't been up to Ashfield hq for a few weeks and I know it's been chaotic with cats coming in and finding homes so if they want to call us the number's 01246 825165. it would be quicker asking direct than going through me but if we are in a position to help then I'm sure we will x

Sent the helpline number. Also, someone on Purrs is potentially helping Milly out.

I have emailed the owner today and arranged to take her in later in the week. I am out on a day trip tomorrow so will call her tomorrow evening or monday to arrange it all. She had a few worrying people answer her advert but thankfully she was asking for a home visit and people refused, dont want to think what might have been planned for them!
Will keep you all informed.

was just wondering if we could help out and see we have!!!

Karen, just be careful of the flu thing with your other little ones

Judith and I went out to trap mum and 3 kittens yesterday. Caught mum and 2 kits first and 3rd little one later in the eveniing (not sure if it was the sardines or mum in carrier that caught him).

Mum, kittens and 4 lovely large ticks (named tim tick, tommy tick, trevor tick and tina tick) now round at Lindas.

Milly picked up and is now settling in. Angie kindly came with me for the trip just incase she decided to have her kittens on the way home!! Luckily she didnt and her owners think she has about a week left, but we will have to wait and see if they are right. She did decide after i ahd dropped Angie home to let one go  smelly!

Will try and get a piccie later tonight if shes settled.

Just went to say goodnight  to Milly after a long day fundraising and she has 3 kittens 2 blacks and one black and white:Luv:Think she has finished but you never know. Did that very quickly and quietly as i checked on her not so long ago and there were no signs!
Did make a joke today at the festival to Angie that she would have them today after it being a very long day. Well at least it wasnt this morning before i went or this afternoon when i came back i got to sit down and relax abit first!

Still 3, did have a little panic this morning when i came down one of them wasnt moving and i thought it was dead at first but then it did move abit but i was still worried as it wasnt really near mum, lying at the bottom of the feet of the suckling kittens. This is only my second experience of newborns and the last lot stayed locked on suckling even when sleeping for the first few days. So poor angie got a phonecall just before 8 this morning thankfully she was already awake! She reasurred me it could be just resting and just to make sure it was near mum to keep warm and keep and eye on her/him. Which she was right by the looks of things because all seems fine now all suckling again :Luv:
Get some piccies soon

We are just not homing much at the moment i think Judith also has a black girl kitten thats ready but not been homed. Very slow with the homing but unfortuatly for poor angie that seems to running around alot recently lots coming in! We are just so full if homing doesnt start to pick up soon we wont even be able to help the real emergencies like the ones angies had this last week.

I have two black and white or white and black kittens, two black (tiny bits of white if you look for it, not much), had both lots of vaccinations, have come on leaps and bounds from hiding in the corner.

I have a ginger long haired female and a white and ginger female, plus a black semi long haired boy (OH keeps calling him "Sticky Paws" because he thinks he will stay!).  The first two of these three are still  in quarantine, and the black boy is getting over a virus, which I think he has managed to share with the others in some cases, even the old boy called Sylvester who is 15, seems to give them a temperature, sore throat in Sylvester's case, he did that swallowing thing when you showed him food, although he did not give up eating completely and gooey eyes.

One of the black ones seems to have a sticky eye, and so does one of the black and white ones today.  It is probably because although, "Sticky Paws" seemed better, and even had his first vaccination, I put him in the pen with the others and he may have still been slightly carrying the original virus he brought in.

Again that was due to lack of space, I had to put a cat with a life changing injury in his pen (which we had to Virkon first)the other night before we took her to the vets first thing in the morning.  It was an old injury, and there was spinal damage to three vertebrae, and the vet gave her a thorough examination, which included taking x-rays.  Sadly later he rang me with the information that we didn't want to hear, that she had no prospect of a good quality of life and if it was his cat he would let her go.  So sadly we had to agree with his decision, and she was released from her discomfort whilst she was still under sedation.  :(
