Just watching TV & the came on an advert for Perle cat food, the food contained vegatables, seems a lot of pet food makers are adding veg to the food.Considering cats are carnivors,my question is that are pet food makers simply adding veg to the food to bulk it out so they can use less meat & save costs? Does adding veg to cat do them any good?
Opinions peeps?

I've read because cats are carnivores they dont need any of this veg and stuff in their food, maybe they are just making it more appealing to the owners :sneaky:
I do feed my cats the food were talking about here, frankly I dont think they give a damn if it's got veg in it or not :evillaugh:
I will have a look at the box and post back later :)

A lot of the dry foods have vegetable extract in them. For example, James Wellbeloved Turkey & Rice cat food has cranberry extract in it in to help cats maintain a healthy urinary tract.
As for the wet foods, well a few extra nutrients from veg in there won't do the cats any harm. I bought some Gourmet for Sugar and was quite pleasantly surprised when I opened the tin. It looked delicious! My neighbour is a chef and she said she could probably get away with serving it in a posh restaurant! :evillaugh:

Yes cats are carnivores, but the little critters they eat are usually herbivores so they will be getting some mixture in their diets as the wild animals they eat will have veg/plant matter in their tums ;)

I bought some of the new amazing disappearing Gourmet food the other day. I had a voucher and there was a pound off so I got a box for about £3. Smoogle Boogle hoovers it up!
He also got a little something thorugh the post from the lovely white cat off the advert. Any one else had a free gift? ;D

I think it's primarily to appeal to the owners. Makes it sound a bit fancier :shify:

I refuse to buy it, although I do have the £1 off voucher if someone would like it? I think Gourmet Perle is very overpriced, and the girls can't tolerate gravy.
