Title: Freecycle and animals!
Post by: TheHappyHippy on May 18, 2010, 11:25:28 AM
Yesterday my OH saw two 8mth old kittens up for rehoming on Freecycle with a number.  :'(

We text the number to see if they were available - I had to check to see how they were being rehomed.

They text back to say they were available and could we collect them today if we want them. :censored:

Of course we will have them  :innocent: and we willl be collecting them at 5 pm.

Not one question about where we live, if we know how to care for cats or anything.  :(

All they asked was when could we collect them.  :-:

So our feline family will grow with the addition of two little boys.  :Luv:  :catplay2:  :Luv2:  Black ones too.  :catluv:

But it breaks my heart that people just throw away animals when they grow out of the bundle of fluff stage, with little respect for their future welfare.  :boxer:

Sorry but as an ex co-owner of a freecycle group I get so mad about things like this and needed to voice my concerns.

Are they home yet?  :Luv2:

My local freecycle doesn't allow pets thankfully, I think that should be extended nationally.

JS - one of the reasons I am no longer part of Freecycle - OH is though. I will have a good look in Chat.

They are home and gorgeous. The family who they came from had only had them 6 weeks and weren't in the least bit interested in answering any questions about them, just could we please get them out of the house asap! This wasn't helped by the mum shouting at a child to make themself useful and 'get' the cats. Who were out of childrens reach on a windowsill. Not that they are the black cats they said - but BEAUTIFUL black and white boys. Little socks, muzzle splodges and 'spilt milk' tummies.  :Luv2:

They were a tad nervous on first arrival, but have eaten, drunk, 'littered' and are very pretty souls. I think they might be a little older but still young - and intact. Not for long though! :evillaugh:

One has already been named Pheonix, close enough to his old name but we prefer it. Sooty is awaiting a new name - his doesn't seem to suit him and he doesn't answer to it! We shall se how his personality develops, maybe that will give us clues.

Will try and take piccies in the next day or two.

Phoenix is a nice name, you could go for another mythology name or a american state/city  ;D
