Been asked by someone if such a place exists! I'm fairly sure there isn't but wanted to check....

The Old Cat People (http://www.oldcatpeople.co.uk/ (http://www.oldcatpeople.co.uk/)) help rehome older cats in Shropshire, Powys and Montgomeryshire. Not sure if they operate elsewhere in the country though :)

Thanks Harlequin. :)

Argh, no email!!
-
http://www.oldies.org.uk/ they specialise in dogs but rehome cats too.
-
Thanks Den, contacted them. ;)
OK - here's the reason.
My sister in law works in publishing for a surf magazine, but has contacts in other areas of publishing. I posted about Fred (see other animals needing homes) and she came up with a really good idea. To contact SAGA and ask them to feature either an elderly cat or a dog monthly as a companion feature. Basically, I need to find a rescue or a database that will be prepared to help follow up the animals featured.
Any info would be appreciated. ;)

if not a particular rescue surely there are many of us with oldies we struggle to rehome??
-
The problem with that is that they need one "source" so to speak, so it isn't a "free for all." (Not my words, by the way - I personally think a list if rescues would work just as well.)

I got Bonnie 2 years ago when she was 10 from a scheme called Elderly Animal Rehoming Scheme (EARS). It started a few years ago in Halifax and is now being run in Huddersfield too. Attached leaflet. My Bonnie is on the pink sheepskin rug at the bottom - they asked me for a photo for the new leaflet shortly after I had adopted her and that was the 2nd photo I took of her when she moved in with me.

The Cinnamon Trust have a lot of oldies, and do operate nationwide through fosterers, as well as their sanctuarys in Cornwall
-
st francis in Derby does old and ill.
We have jill who takes them in as long term fosters for us but we have to limit the number of places as vet bills are expensive.

Have contacted Oldies and they seem very up for the idea. ;)
