Title: Now Tatty Is Gone

I can't believe that we have lost Tatty now, so soon after loosing Gizzy  :'(

When Jim got home from work yesterday, he thought that Tatty was just sleeping in the bin bed in the living room.  When Jim went to sit down, Tatty attempted to get out of the bed, but was very unsteady on his paws, and started going round in circles.  When I got home, Tatty was in a collapsed state, so instead of waiting for the out of hours appointment that had been made, we rushed him into the vet.  They gave him oxygen, and when the head of the practise checked him over, they said that he was very dehydrated, and they suspected that he might have kidney failure.  They admitted him straight away, and let us briefly say goodbye to him.

When Alan, the head of the practise rang us later in the evening, he said that the blood tests showed that he wasn't suffering from kidney failure, and his heart was strong.  His potassium level was raised, so they gave him some antibiotics, and kept him on the drip to rehydrate him.  We were supposed to ring them this morning to see how he was doing.

I knew as soon as Alan called me at work at about 9:15 that something was wrong, because I was supposed to call them.  He said that he checked Tatty late last night, and he was OK, but when he checked him first thing this morning he had not survived the night.

I sat at my desk and cried.  I have been crying all day.  Our brave boy is gone.  I don't understand why.  Its not fair - it seems like such a short time that he had with us.  We love you always baby  :Luv: :Luv2:

So sorry Sylvia  :hug: - it is so painful I know  :'(

I was just looking at Tatty's firework night pictures and the original one where he looked so poorly. You gave him 3 1/2 years of care that he wouldn't have had otherwise.

I am so sorry to hear this, it is so much harder when it is unexpected, but I hope in time you will be able to take comfort from what you gave him, he was such a lucky boy.

Thanks again for everyone's thoughts.

We are are still in a state of shock about this and Gizzy.  I still seem to be working, but when I stop to think about it, I have no idea what I have just been doing - I feel so empty inside.  The only things keeping me going are Tommy, Sweepy, Suki and Tabs.

I will do proper memorials for Gizzy and Tatty soon, but it is just too raw and painful right now.

I will get there eventually  :'(

Do it in your own time Sylvia and we all know what you mean - we all seem to get on with things we have to and the second we stop, that's it, it hits us hard again.

You get lots of cuddles from the ones that are still with you - they will know you are sad and will help you.

Dont rush  this is a huge shock and takes so much time to get better thaqn it is now  :hug: :hug: :hug:
