Title: Re: am fuming - people honestly!! - CC back @ Harbour - Now @ R-Bow Bridge
Post by: madkittyrescue on April 23, 2010, 14:10:00 PM
People really do never seems to fail to disappoint do they!!   :censored:  :censored:  :censored:  :censored:  :censored:

We rehomed a little old kitty to a home at the end of last year under the criteria - NO KIDS - NO CATS

well it would appear our criteria has since fell on deaf ears and after receiving a very lengthy email of complaint that poor CC is stress urinating in her house and won't go near the grandkids (who weren't meant to be there in the first place) and how awful it is that poor CC ruined a sheepskin rug and has the audacity to not eat cheap biscuits because they make her sick and so she is having to feed wretched CC whiskas and felix.

After reading through this very lengthy email with all kinds of wild accusations I very calmy constructed a reply addressing each of their points in the email finishing with a note to say that if they no longer wished to care for CC that she should be returned to us and to let us know the day and time they would be dropping her off.  This was approx 4 weeks ago

Well - it would appear that as we didn't go running around after their backsides they took it upon themselves to ring round and threaten every rescue in the area that if they didn't take CC they would toss her out in the street - despite the fact we had already stated we would take CC in no problem.

1 rescue agreed to take CC as they felt the threat to CC was real (which is in fact further away than we are) - and miraculously they managed to find someone to take the cat there but couldn't have got CC to us.

After much tall tales and lies from CC's previous owner to both us and the other rescue concerned and phone calls between myself and the other rescue we will now be going to collect CC from her current location to bring her back home to the Harbour tomorrow afternoon.

I really feel for this poor wee button who has been through so much already before getting to us and that someone I entrusted her care to could be so callous.  When I placed CC I did say to paul that I felt uneasy about something but couldn't put my finger on it and everything seemed fine - in future - I will definitely be listening to my gut instinct!!  :censored:

All they had to do was to arrange for the same person to bring CC to us which would have been quicker and easier and yet they went to all this elaborate trouble to dump her on someone else further away.

people honestly????   :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: >:( >:( >:(

Edited to update title.

Poor CC - she'll definitely be a lot better off out of there. There's definitely a lot to be said for gut instinct.  Hopefully she won't be waiting long for her proper home.  Can't believe the lengths they have gone to either to get her into a rescue when you have already said you will take her back - probably done it out of spite.  Some people are just unbelievable.

Poor CC - that is so unbelievably callous -what utter  :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:

To be honest as soon as i got her back -i would be giving those people something to seriously think about in the way of a phone call or email and tell them they will never be able to rehome another animal as they are not fit to breathe - or a bit more along those lines !

Hope she gets a really wonderful home where she will be spoilt rotten forever .

I couldn''t deal with people like that - i have too short a fuse and would seriously lose my temper ( once i got cat back safe ).

Hugs will be a plenty guys for CC when we go to the other rescue to collect her.  Its around an hour n a half away so will be an afternoons trek I just hope that she is OK when we get there.  The other rescue have said she is fine but I will know better once I've seen her myself.

I just don't understand their attitude at all and can only put it down to the fact that they weren't willing to take responsibility for being the cause of their own problems and our poor wee harbour babe was stuck in the middle as they didn't wish to be confronted or have to make an effort to get off their backsides to get her to us.  They obviously didn't think I would get in touch with the other rescue or follow up on what was going on and had a wee panic to herself ringing ahead to tell the other rescue how 'horrible' we are!!   >:(

She will be safe from harm back here by tomorrow night for sure.  The only other concern we have just now is that CC so called owners daughter who was also at the centre of the whole twisted saga also has a harbour baby.  Am SO angry really am.

We'll be waiting to see how CC is on her return and give her some time and love to settle before we make any decisions regarding her future.

Anyone who knows Paul and I know only too well the love, care and commitment we make to each and every little one that comes through our door and for someone to be as twisted and nasty really got me irate yesterday.

Must say thank you to Caroline  too though (timsmum) she got a real earful of my ranting ALL day lol but was a godsend throughout the whole thing as always x

Sarah, people are pretty good at saying the "right things" to make you trust them. I'm sorry this couple were so awful to poor CC not to mention such utter liars.

Sending CC a big fuss for her arrival.

I can't believe how callous some people can be. We had a lovely big old tabby that was rehomed to an 80 year old woman. After a while she phoned and said he was peeing all over the place and wanted us to take him back - which was odd as he had never peed at the fosterers house. When I wen to collect him, we got chatting and she let it slip that her daughter has insisted she get rid of the cat as she was having a hip replacement and the daughter didn't want the bother - I'm sure he wasn't peeing around the house at all  >:(. He was rehomed to some monks  :evillaugh:

For that and many other reasons, I'm glad this woman didn't get Alice. The day I took Alice to the vets from the fosterer and they suspected her abcess was cancer, I was meant to be taking Alice to show the lady as she had no transport. Sharon thought it wise not to show her in case Alice did have it. As it turned out, she did - after her surgery, the vet said he didn't think it was a good idea for her to recover in an outdoor cattery so I said I would look after her for a week or two - the rest as they say is history (2 1/2 years on and she is fast asleep downstairs  :Luv2:

Well I can report that we now have CC back safe and sound at the harbour.

She is totally exhausted, very sad, greasy coat, very bad dry skin / dandruff and has some hair loss too and appeared to be very stiff in her back.

When we went to collect her she was cowered under the desk in the office and as I went in and shouted on her her wee head popped out - eyes lit up and she came running towards me until one of the other cats got in the way!!    :Luv2:   In one way it was lovely that she recognised me but in another I felt awful.  :'(   :'(

We brought her home with us and settled her back into a pen.  As soon as she saw the pen and we opened the cat carrier door she was straight out and up to the food for a munch  :Luv2:  and then settled down on a cosy wee bed for a sleep.   We kept checking on her last night and around 10pm she let out a big sigh, wrapped her wee paws under her chin and lay down - very much an aaaaahhhhhhh! moment!  :Luv2:

My heart really breaks for her to think what she has been through but I am VERY relieved that we have managed to get her back to us especially after the look on her wee face when she realised it was me there to collect her - was almost as if she had been waiting for me for a long time  :(

Will keep you posted on how she is - for now - daily chores are a calling!!  :tired:

Aww, the poor baby, can't understand why they didn't wait for you if you had already agreed to take her back - that happened to me a couple of years back as well, they didn't think I was quick enough in taking hte cat back (obviously no sense of me having to juggle for a space), and contacted other people - luckily the other rescue contacted me. Fingers crossed she perks up soon.

We have an appt for CC at 2.30 today - will update you all when I know more.

It could just be that feeding her consistently cheap biscuits and causing her to be sick has aggravated her stomach and gut - hope that's all it is anyways.

having checked on her this morning she is very down and withdrawn and hasn't eaten anything at all overnight.  There was a little more pink foamy sick and blood in her poo as well this morning.

She's just not our little girl at all :'(

will see if we can coax her to eat anything this morning and update you once she has seen the vet this afternoon.
     thanks for all the thoughts for CC

Lots of hugs to CC...

When I adopted Katie I was told I couldn't have other cats due to the soiling and apart from a few fosters we've kept to that. It's so hard to see all the appeals for help when i've got space for another, but it's just not fair on her.

As for kids, my nephew came round yesterday (he's 4 months old) she just sniffed him, looked disgusted and settled down on her chair for a snooze!

Just back from the vets with CC.

Nothing obvious at the moment as to why she is the way she is at the moment - and although sounding / appearing as a cat with a temperature  - her temp came back as normal.  Nothing else felt or heard that would indicate anything to the contrary at the moment.

Vet has opted to give her a/b's and steroid just now and see how she responds over the next day or two as we try to encourage her to eat something.   If she still doesn't pick up then we will move forward from there.

Poor wee CC is just SO down bless her - will be working with her to keep her spirits up and just hope that she turns the corner - so wish that she could speak to tell us what was wrong!

who knows it could just be simple exhaustion is taking its toll but we are covering all bases in the meantime.  :-:

thanks guys

Shirley - as far as we aware everything is fine with Flash but we are just not comfortable with her being there in light of the threats made by both her and her mum with regards to dumping CC.

Unfortunately though if she is being cared for there isn't a great deal we can do just now but we will be making sure that other rescue's in the area are made aware of the situation in due course so that this doesn't happen to any other little one's.

As for CC this morning she is much the same in herself and still very withdrawn but did get up to drink a couple of laps of water before I went to bed last night and hovered round the bowl a while.  On checking her first things this morning she has drunk her whole bowl of water and has also eaten the jelly of her wet food - better than nothing.

She lifted her wee head for me slightly this morning but that was it - will just have to see how she does today.  Am really hoping it is just exhaustion bless her.  :Luv2:

no worries shirley - am sure her thread is in here somewhere! lol - she was actually living on the streets for around 3-4 yrs when we heard about her.  She was being fed by a resident - with no cats herself lol who had been reluctant to put CC into rescue in case she was PTS.

She heard about us and after a phone call and visit was happy to allow us to bring CC in.  When she arrived she was generally healthy, good weight (thanks to the feeder) but was suffering with very bad embedded claws in her front feet.  They were very sore for her and we had them treated and she went from strength to strength.  We estimated her age around 10 yrs old at that time and that was 7mths ago.

I have to say that she looks worse on her return this time than she did coming off the streets - as bizarre as that may sound - suppose it just goes to show in the difference of care and feeding.  Poor CC now looks very worn and run down bless her.  :Luv2:  Not to mention the thick glaring lack of fur round her neck and under her chin where  a collar has been so tight its rubbed away the hair - she never had a collar line when she left!  >:(

If she can pull through this then I will be making sure that any future homes for this little girl are very special indeed.

This is more than just being down - definitely feel something is wrong with her and have to say am worried in case she has been kicked or the likes as she is such a small little girl  >:(  :'(  :scared:

I was dreading hearing this as i thought it suspicious in the fact they took her to another rescue and wasn''t keen on you having her back -this was because of something they have done to her .
What utter callous  :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored: :censored:- hope they rot in hell  :censored: :censored:

As for poor CC -i really hope she hasn''t been hurt and she will get better -please give her lots of gentle kisses and      from us .

If its something they have done i hope they get prosecuted and all animals should be taken from them - i hope this isn't Willow and Oliver all over again - what the hell is going on in this country/world !?

Hi Guys,

CC is much the same this morning - have just come off the phone with the vet and we are going to take her along at lunch time for another checkup and possible / likely blood test.

With everything we pumped her full of onMonday we should be seeing improvement by now - and if anything she is getting worse.

Thanks for all the words of support guys really appreciated it. We are doing what we can for the little one whilst our fury bubbling under the surface for CC's sake.

Will keep you all posted

We don't know for sure what is causing this with CC but all I can say is that if we do discover it has been caused by a 'someone' rather than of natural causes then trust me I WILL be taking action!

For the time being we just have to concentrate on CC and hope that tests this afternoon will shed light on what is going on with her.

Will be leaving for the vets in just under an hour.  Will update when I get back.

exactly, if she is an old puss she may have something which needs treating or she may be a very sensitive puss and need a while to feel secure again

Oki doki!

Just got blood tests back - her urea level and amalyse is slightly higher than normal but there is nothing that is showing way out of the normal that would indicate anything specific going on.

results are consistent with her not eating and drinking much points towards possible pancreas - poss liver but nothing definitive.

Having spoken with the vet just now who believes that the blast of meds we gave her on Monday should be showing signs of helping by now especially if it was inflamed pancreas is rather confused by her lack of progress - as are we all.

We are going to give CC 24 hrs and if no better by the morning and still deteriorating then we will be taking her into the vet tomorrow for further tests.

It is with a very heavy heart and tears in my eyes I write this update.   :'(

CC has just passed to rainbow bridge.   :'(

It was a cancer affecting her kidney and spleen and her other kidney was badly infected hence she has been in so much pain.  The kindest thing to do was to let her go and I am in a way glad that we opted for going in to see what was happening rather than subject her to a barrage of more tests so that she is not suffering any longer.  Just goes to show how tough she was that her kidneys were still functioning correctly despite this ravaging her system.

she was such a special little girl who has been through SO much in this life.  I am so sorry CC that we couldn't do better for you in your last months but hope you know that we loved you dearly and will miss you terribly.  :'(

Now more than ever I am SO glad that we pursued getting CC back with us at the harbour.  I dread to think of what she may have gone through otherwise  :'(  :'(  :'(

thank you all for your kind words and thoughts for CC.

We have both been devastated by this news today despite the fact that deep down we suspected the same.  I think what makes it harder is knowing that she was suffering with the kidney infection for some time and they did nothing to ease her pain in all that time - yet we had her back with us for less than 48hrs and knew something was wrong and tried to help her.

We did our best by little CC in the short time she had with us this time round and I think she knew how much we loved her and wanted so badly for her to be well again.  It was just not meant to be.

Sleep well and play free and happy at the bridge our little one

thank you for all the kind words guys - means a lot

the weather let up yesterday so we have chosen to bury CC here at the Harbour so that she is home forever. She deserved that much after the life she has led.

We have also been waiting for the right time to bury Monday's Ashes (Penny's other half) and took the decision to place Monday and CC in the same spot so they are company for one another (I know we are total softies) but it seemed the right thing to do.  Both are now resting peacefully below our cherry blossom tree where several other babies are laid to rest including Herbie's siblings, little dolly and Pip who we reared at the same time as Herbie for a few days but who sadly didn't make it.   :(   :Luv2:

We know she is at peace now and am sure she will love the spot we have chosen for her.  :ahh:
