I had already gone to bed last night when OH came home from a rehearsal to tell me he's found a cat who was just laying there and struggling to breathe and that he needed my help. Of course, I jumped out of bed and we went to see her. She was a pure white, petite cat who was laying very flat. When I stroked her I thought she was dead but when I touched her body gently, she let out a low moan so I knew we had to get her in quick. We put her in a blanket and carried her in so we could ring the emergency vet. She was gasping for breath and fighting but sadly died on the way to the vet. We were actually relieved as we didn't want her suffering to be any more drawn out than it needed to be.
The vet thought her to be around 3-4 yrs old and she is microchipped so her family would have been informed this morning.
I am just glad we found her so she had someone stroking her head gently and speaking softly to her as she went over to the bridge.
RIP swett little white cat xxx

Thanks guys  It was just an awful, heartbreaking experience but I am so glad that we found her and that as a result, her owners will know. (I was dreading if she wasn't chipped) She also had comfort as she passed.
I just find RTAs to be the most unjust way to lose a life, it makes me so sad to think that someone could hit an animal, someone's family member and just leave them. >:(

RIP little girl.
It was nice that she didn't go on her own and that her owners can be notified about what happened to her.

Yeah it was hard because OH found her, not that far from where Rufus was killed. Although she was someone else's baby you can't help but think of when it was ours he was bringing in and taking to the vets after being killed in an RTA.
I have not stopped hugging mine ever since and am going through that horrible stage of worrying about them everytime they go out. We chose our house because of how far it is from the road but cat's wander and even on the quietest of places, people speed and cats get unlucky. I am so careful about keeping mine in at night as soon as it's dark and can only pray they stay safe.
