hello all
Since I lost my Mango Bear (miss you) on 1st November poor Chutney seems to be getting bored. I thought getting her a little friend might help.
At the rescue I volunteer at there is a little six month old kitten (given up as the owners said she 'didn't get on with the new baby' >:()called Tabitha. She has just been spayed and I will be taking her home on friday evening. She is sooooo sweet and friendly, I hope she gets on with Chutney.
I will be putting her into my spare room and slowly introducing them. Any really good tips? I will be exchanging scents etc and I have Feliway plugged in ready ;)
Pics will soon be forthcoming by the way

Good for you. Hope the intros go well; I think there's information in the Health and behaviour section. ;)

Thats lovely and hope Chutney loves her new playmate ;D

I've never introduced a new cat so no advice, just wanted to say congratulations. I'm sure Mango would be very proud  Fingers crossed her and Chutney are soon best of friends - will you be keeping her name or will she get a new condiment related name :evillaugh:

That's lovely news :) this link in our guides section may be helpful regarding introductions:

Can't wait to see pics, and hear how the intros go, I don't have any advice either I'm afraid, but all the things you're suggesting sound good to me
Mango will be very proud of you

Lovely! I look forward to hearing how the introductions go :)

What brilliant news, I am a bad intro person, I just put the new kitten in with the rest of them, I do obviously keep an eye on things and I make sure that they are kept apart at night etc, but I think it depends on the personality of the cats involved, my existing ones are so used to new kittens that they dont bat an eyelid and the last kitten we introduced was JO Ripley and he is not scared of anything at all, in fact he had bashed Daisy over the head within about 5 minutes of meeting her.
I really am pleased for you though, I am sure you and Cutney will have a wonderful time xxx

Lovely ;D
Having had to do it myself, years and years ago, I had to make a special fuss over the 'current' cat until she realised she wasn't being ousted - they got on fine even though Black was in her very late teens (she died at 21, yes 21) - Fluffy 'had' to come live with me but you know, they still got on okay for the year or so they shared the same house.
Good luck and remember post some photos please!

Hope the intro's go well we are like Daisymac - open catbox/trap and let them go - a recipe that has worked for us with all bar one foster cat Ainsley he kept picking on our late Blind oldie Bertie so he was homed to be a hotel cat at a 5 star place and now has 2 other ferals living in reception with himand all are treated like royalty

Aww how wonderful that Chutney is getting a new friend :Luv:

hello all!
Little one is currently in the spare room (where the PC is) and I have so far discovered a few things about her-
She purrs constantly :Luv2:
she loves using beds, playing with toys etc (which Chutney doesn't really do)
She climbs all over you for a headrub (she climbed on my shoulder at one point)
She sucks her tail when she is 'making biscuits'! do you think I should discourage her from this by distracting her at all or should I just leave it? Also, I think we have decided on Kiki for her name :wow: Chutney has not met her yet, she knows she is there but doesn't want to go near the room! Will be updating with pics at some point ;)
-
Aww!
I've never heard of tail sucking but I do love kneading cats :Luv:
-
Aw she sounds lovely and I love her name, cant wait for pics!!! :wow: :Luv2:

I do hope Chutney gets over the new intruder and that Kiki and Chutney will become best of friends ;D
