Well as Memphis is my first cat I'm still on a learning curve with some things.
He was just snoozing on my throw, I moved him slightly only to reveal a Whisker on the throw. I'm now holding his whisker ... Is this normal? If so how often do they leak whiskers. He's 2, and I cant say I've seen any others lying around the place before.
-
yes, they grow new ones from time to time, I don't find them often but with four cats do find them every now and again
-
I have 6 cats and also find the odd whisker, I like to keep them :)
Something that gets me is people say kittens teeth fall out too- I have never found one of those :-:
-
my vet said they often swallow the teeth - Tilly had two lots of canines for a while, looked horrible!
-
So it's not odd that I'm planning on keeping it then :evillaugh: :evillaugh: It's a lovely long one.

They do. I've got a few of Memphis' - only the molars and pre-molars though.
At least he's normal :lol2: Thank you
-
I love how you refer to it as a "leak" :evillaugh:
I find the odd whisker but have yet to find any teeth and I've been around a few kittens in my time. It is curious isn't it?
-

:evillaugh: :evillaugh: It's because Mig is terrible. You just have to look at him to be covered in a blanket of hair. Well, whenever I get my granddad to bunny sit he always has to say "Flops, you are leaking" sooooo now all moulting and shedding is referred to leaking.
-
I too have found whiskers around from time to time, they amaze me, the strength and length of them.
I've never kept them though.
Never found any of Milo's teeth either, but when he was particularly dribbly once and sucking things the vet said it was cause he was teething.
-
oh yes I'm always finding whiskers lying around. They fall out and get replaced by new ones.
I found one of Mosi's baby teeth and did keep it but can't remember where I put it now. It was so small and cute.
-
I find lots of Whiskers I have one of Schui's and a photo of it somewhere :evillaugh: they were very special, he used to grow 1 thick white whisker at one side. It did come out itself, I wouldn't dream of tweaking it a little :shify:

Same here, I have one of our first cat (Penny's) baby teeth somewhere :

Aw... save the whiskers Den. It's rare to find one the bigger ones. :wow: They must be lucky. Bit like a four leaf clover perhaps? :shify: :innocent:
With the cats I've had since kittenhood, I have their baby canine teeth in a box. Never been lucky enough to find molars. :tired:

I found something very odd at home a few weeks ago.
A black Maxy whisker ..... immediately next to a white Pooty whisker :)
Now bearing in mind we lost Max back in July, and I have vacuumed many times since then, I though it a little strange, but lovely too :)
I save all the found whiskers too, and have several of Max's in his memory box with some of this fur :Luv2:
-
I feel guilty for hoovering them up now!
-
This was the Schui whisker I mentioned which was easy to find :Luv:
-
Oh bless :Luv2: :Luv2:
That is a cute one. Isn't it odd that there was such a massive difference. Whiskers are a funny thing aren't they. Memphis has one which is crinkly at the very end and I just can't help wanting to get the straighteners out on it. Some cats have short ones, and others have massively long ones.
The Whiskers on Molly's left are all black, but the ones on the right are all white.

I have found one stuck in a door....They must of been chewing on it! :evillaugh:
Loads of whiskers found here, oh that's reminded me I must find the tweezers for my chin! :evillaugh:

When Schui first grew that thick white whisker (as I like symmetry ;) ) I hoped he'd get another at the other side but it never happened :evillaugh:. That one would drop out then another would always replace it. Everyone said he looked distinguished and I think he did actually :Luv2: the last one he grew before he became ill and never was replaced :(
That must be unusual to have different coloured ones on one side and to the other ;D never seen that before.

I found a tooth, I had to shut Charlie out of the room to give Poppy her food with tablet in it, when I let him back in he had red front paws(they are usually snow white)!!! I thought he had hurt himself! Then as I got on the floor to talk to him I found his tooth, how releived was I. :scared:

Worry not a jot. You'll find whiskers occasionally, as well as bits of their claws too - like the way a snake sheds their skin and you see the outline shape - you'll find bits of claws around too.
I am a bad mother - when I find one of Molly's whiskers, I go show her it, let her smell it then I gentle 'prod' her in the belly with the 'root' end (simple things amuse simple minds... I know, I know :-[)
One of the stray cats here, jet black - a beauty with a gorg shiny coat - for ages he had one solitary white whisker - it was the oddest looking thing. It suddenly disappeared and it was strange not seeing his mutant follicle on his face!
-
The worst thing is if you walk around barefoot and get one of those long whiskers stuck in your foot, they can really hurt, they are incredibly sharp!!. I have found whiskers and baby teeth - kept the teeth but not the whiskers. I also have a black cat, Elvis, who has just recently grown one solid white whisker, which is also most "u" shaped. It does make him look most odd .
-
I keep the whiskers but never know who they belonged to cos all have white whiskers ;D
