Had quite an upsetting shock today when I went to feed my hamsters; Antonina had passed away. I'd not seen her playing on the wheel for a couple of days, but as I've had her for a year and four months and she wasn't a baby when I got her I put it down to her getting older and not feeling like doing as much.

Antonina had been put on our local Freecycle for the second time along with Bob(oushka) when I took them on. Neither of them was especially cuddly and that remained the case, but the antics they got up to made up for it. Transpires that they weren't two females as after about a year of living here Antonina and Bob had two babies (one was stillborn, sadly) and so we got another Little Russian joining the ranks in the shape of Junior. This did mean that sadly Antonina and Bob had to be separated.
However, Antonina seemed content on her own. Plodding about and using her wheel for her regular workout.
RIP Antonina, you were a funny little thing and you deserved better than to be passed around the way you were. I'm glad we were able to offer you a home, even for a short time.
