Title: back to the vets
Post by: tab on January 21, 2010, 10:56:46 AM
3 weeks to the day of getting Mogs pts Amber has developed cystitis. I think shes finally realised shes alone and she doesnt like being left. The first couple of weeks I wasnt going out because of the snow but this last week Ive been trying to get out and I think it bothers her. I cant even think of another cat though because I cant afford it and I really dont think she would let one in. It used to take about 3 days for her to accept Mogs back in. Ive got some feliway spray which I will use before I go out but when I use it at the cattery she isnt impressed and hisses so Im not convinced it will help. Im just not sure what else I can do apart from give her time.
We have a week of anti biotics in case its bacterial not stress and the non absorbant litter for if it happens again so I can get a sample. The vet has suggested she stays on cystease forever and has given her an anti inflam injection. We've only been home for 45 minutes and shes already on the tray for the second time. If it continues I'll have to get some tests done but as she got cytistis before the insurance Im not going to be covered.
It was awful going back into the vets after last time  :'(

it is awful seeing them keep going to the tray, and most of us know what it feels like ourselves

Tiffany has had it a couple of times, but it cleared up untreated after a couple of days - I did all I could to encourage her to drink more though, as at least that gives them more to pass

Well things arent wonderful. The tablets the vet sent home with her keep being sicked up. I need to go and get some more today and Im going to try to do them between meals instead of with. Shes still back and fro this morning which isnt good normally shes fine straight after the injections so I will keep an eye on her.
Thanks all

I can well understand how difficult it was going back to the vets.       Ih ope things improve soon for Amber.  The Zylkine sounds worth a try if her problems are stress-induced,

Well we now have some more tablets one of which has stayed down or at least wasnt sicked up at my feet
Ive sprayed feliway around the flat each time I leave and hopefully things will calm down now.
I went in to the vets today and it was a different receptionist I gave my name and she said is it Mogs so I had to explain  :'(
Thanks all

 I suppose we all have to "get back on the horse"

I have Willow's ashes on a bedside table in one of the spare bedrooms that I get dressed in - she often used to sit on the bedside table there  :Luv2: . I sat on the bed this morning and took the container out of the bag and said "morning baby Will"  :Luv2: (Maybe I am crazy) - I thought I was going to be upset but was running late so had to hold it together.  :shy:

Well Amber was up from 2 till 4 yelling on the tray but then went on at 9 and was fine. She was fine yesterday during the day too so Im a little confused now. I think the AB's might be upsetting her tum a bit but by giving them separate to food they seem to stay down.
Im amazed at how good shes being with tablets now. This last year shes changed completely from being a scratchy monster to running in the room when I get them out and jumping on the settee for me. Things is she also wants my tablets  :evillaugh:

Glad Amber ok taking the tabs now.

After Tyler had her dental she was given Synulox AB and she took them no bother. she dropped on out her food and actually licked it up. could not beleive it, she usually fires any tablets across the room when she thinks we are not looking.

ABs can upset humans big time as I been on them (human ones) and my tummy been really upset all week.  Thats a big side effect in humans so guess its the same in Cats

Big hug for Amber  and one for Mum

Well the good news is that in a clean tray we have a normal wee not pink. The bad news is 3 pooh's in 24hrs of various degrees of yuckieness
Arrrggghh I clean the tray and she has to go see what I did and have a wee while shes there, I check the wee its fine so she has to go again and squeeze some more out which was a little pink and because I checked shes now back and yowling
Im going to have to not check for a while and hope she calms down again I think

I decided to restrain myself and only check the tray while shes eating rather than every time she used it and it seemed to help. There was no yowling last night or this morning which is good.
Of course after saying how good she is with tablets yesterday she went under the bed and wouldnt come out so she had to be bribed with treats. This morning I went in and after a little chat where she actually squeaked at me a few times (first time ever!!) she came out had the tablet and then went back
So im hopeful we're getting over this now and fingers crossed she wont start again
