He picked at his food yesterday so i expected to meet a hairball or scavenged treat, this morning he didnt get up til i clinked dishes but didnt eat anything. Off to vet where nothing can be easily spotted, hes abit lip licky and swallowing so vet wondered if he has a sore throat. Hes had a couple of jabs, one for nausea and one anti inflamatory, i would expect these to have kicked in by tea but he didnt want anything :(
Theres no sickness or diarrhoea so am confused as to whats brewing :scared:
-
Poor Simon :( do hope that the meds start to kick in soon
-
If he doesnt eat any supper then i dont think they will kick in :( metacam acts quickly even orally not sure about the other as havnt used it before but im sure its normal use in dogs would require a prompt reaction.
Hate seeing them poorly :grrrrrr:
-
:get well: Simon :care:

If he has a throat infection he may just feel poorly on himself so may take a little while, I hate to see them poorly too

Teeth? :shify:

-
Aww, MM. How old is Simon?
-
I hope Simon picks up today , often abs take a day or two to kick in
-
Sending Simon some good vibes, hope he is feeling better today.
-
I'm sorry he's under the weather and hope that he recovers spontaneously or, failing that, that you can find out what it is so that you can set about treating it. I wondered about teeth too.
-
He had a little cimicat last night but nothing this morning and didnt bother getting up. He doesnt have a temperature, sickness or diarrhoea etc the lack of symptoms doesnt help so hes in having bloods run. I think liver as seems to be like milly was :(
He didnt have an AB jab as i dont agree with just giving them and hoping its right!
Teeth have been a problem for him in the past so he had a few out then, theres a couple that will need to come out but nothing like how he was before, he didnt stop eating even then until the granuloma got so big he was biting it, loves his grub too much.
Hes only 4 so still young :Luv2:
-
I really hope is is just a bug
-
Sending healing vibes and hope he feels much better soon!

Went to visit him this afternoon and ended up comming home with him :Luv2: he still hasnt eaten for them but the fluids and a dose of mirtazapine have perked him up so fingers crossed this has boosted him enough to throw off whatever is bugging him.
If he still doesnt eat he will need a feeding tube but seeing him there today he wouldnt tolerate that without anything to calm him, he kept messing with his drip so had to have his whole leg bandaged :evillaugh:
-
Glad he's perking up and maybe he hasn't eaten because he's a bit upset being away from home and will eat now he's back with you
-
Hes quite unsettled but i think thats the medication, i normally have trouble getting him to eat slower so its really strange
-
Hope he continues to improve and starts to eat again
-
sending lots of good wishes for him
-
Keep us posted.

Oh that's ok, I was just wondering whether it was a certain drug which is known to cause restlessness but it wasn't that one.

-
:thanks: for all vibes, think they worked as last night he improved abit ;D ate applaws chicken and cheese and this morning some sheba dome, went to sainsburys and got beef mince as thats one of his favourite raw treats and some of that went down at lunch so im feeling much relived as dreaded the thought of leaving him in for a feeding tube :(
Still no idea whats up and hes still not normal but if he continues like this for a few days he should be feeling much better, he looks like hes aged 10 years in one week :'(
-
:) really glad to hear that he's eating something and seeming a little better
-

-
Do hope that Simon is really on the mend now
-
The applaws chicken has been handfed the last few days which he is eating but wont touch anything meaty, fortunately tesco do a chicken tin thats nice and gloopy and complete ;D so i can feel happier some important bits are going in.
Hes still not normal and had a check up today, i noticed a pale area on/under his tounge so hes had ab jab and to start metacam for a few days to see if it clears up and sorts the eating issue, with his history of mouth swellings and stomatitis he will have a sample taken if no improvement with new meds to make sure it isnt nasty :scared:
Gooeys also under the weather being sick so hasnt had his metacam which makes him moody as his hip plays him up, vet helpfully sends jab home for him after hearing hes in a v.bad mood and chuckles to himself :naughty: got him whilst he was sleepy so vet can eat his hat :evillaugh:
-
Sorry you've got two under the weather, I know what thats like, hope they both improve quickly
-
Aw! Positive vibes to Mr Gooey also.... Hope they both feel tons better soon!
-
Simons in for a GA tommorrow to have his tongue 'bit' checked and sampled, really scared it will be cancer :( :scared:

-
How did things go MM?
-
Turns out he had 3 squiffy areas once my vet had a good look so he took a bit of each area, i know he was thinking cancer but seemed abit happier when i collected. Simons tongue isnt squishy and thick so just hoping its a surface issue. Will know mid week hopefully :scared:
Simon had 4 portions of grub when he got in, you would never know he had his tongue cut and stitched a few hours previously, quite amazed how hes coped with this. Chicken tins still comming up trumps but he will try other meatier foods :Luv2:
Have managed to get 100g or so back on him too :)
-
What a brave little soldier :) :crossed: for the results
-
Hes Little Man now, cos he looked all old and decrepit :( brave and tough :Luv2: he doesnt do humans at the best of times so have felt very mean taking him on trips
-
:Luv: Bless him, fingers crossed for results xx

Glad to hear he's eating better now and I'll keep my fingers crossed for the results next week

Thanks, had a blonde moment :evillaugh:
Any suggestions for foods to get weight back on that arent sloppy/runny/pate? Recovery tins/formula pouches and a/d are still too difficult for him to eat. Iv got convalescence pouches that are chunks but hes not overly keen on them :tired: cimicat has to be limited or his tum reacts!
Trying to get extra meals to him is extremely difficult, little chicken smells food and starts screaming which alerts all the others :sigh: :scared:
-
Glad to hear it isn't cancer, although not sure what else you can try to help him gain weight - maybe just a bit more of his normal food at each meal?
-
How about prawns or small chunks of chicken?
-
Hes having some extra normal food but its slow progress on that, his coat is certainly nicer eating lots of tinned chicken tho. Strangely he wont eat much normal chicken even if if i pull it into the same shape threads as the tins  gooey is the only cat to eat prawns here :shify:
-
What's tinned chicken? I let mine have some prawns when I had some this week, and the girls turned their noses up - Sam wasn't so daft though!!
-
Tinned chicken = applaws, encore, tesco luxury etc its in gloop compared to normal chicken that i cook
-
Ah right. Thought it was something I hadnt' seen with being vegi.
