My wonderful builder delivered Blip's little ramp this morning. It's great! I have taken a picture of it if someone could resize it for me: others may be interested in the (simple) design.
And do you know, he is not going to charge me for making it: he said it's a present for beautiful Blip. I've already recommended him to a colleague and two neighbours, but even so, not all people would take that generous attitude.
-
Hurrah for the nice builder!! :) looking forward to pictures - you can email it to me if you want me to resize it. ;)
-
It sounds great! and he sounds a very nice builder :)
If you want to email me the photo I'll do it for you Christine.
-
Thank you both! I'd already emailed JS when you posted, Janey :thanks:
-
oh ok, didn't see JS's post, she must have posted whilst I was still typing :evillaugh:

Blips ramp....and a bonus. ;)

Can I just point out that we don’t have moss growing all over our patio: it’s pouring with rain here today and the wetness has come out an eerie colour in the security light.
Great ramp, though, isn't it?
-
:)
Has she used it yet?
I'm guessing the black stripes are a bit like sandpaper?
Is it fixed onto the door?
-
It's a super ramp ;D well done mr builder!

The third picture shows Blip's reaction so far but the ramp only came at 09.00 this morning.

Soft sandpaper, if that makes sense.
Is it fixed onto the door?
No, it's freestanding, but with a sort of under-lip that secures it against the threshold. It's made of light wood so that it can't be used to smash the windows.

I think the builder's done a wonderful job!
-
What a super ramp - Blips going to love it
Reading about it adn seeing the pictures brought a lump to my throat - my Dad built a little ramp for their cat as he got older and couldnt get through the cat flap (the cat, Leon, not my Dad :evillaugh:) Leon had been my brother's cat but had stayed at his original home when my brother went to university. Dad put carpet on Leon's ramp to stop him slipping
Dad always pretended not to be very interested in animals, but Ive just remembered how when I was about 7 and had a pet hamster, Dad would let her curl up and sleep in his cardigan pocket .... and how Leon always sat on Dad's lap.
Thanks for unintentionally bringing back some very happy memories
-
;D fantastic ;D
-
What a nice builder! :)
Blip's little ramp is lovely!
-
looks great and as its not attached you can move it away....................its amazing how many stubbed feet you can get when you just misjudge how close you are too it

Same as my dad, I had to bring my hamster to my parent's house over Christmas one year, my dad complained, said it would smell, said it would have to stay in the shed etc. One day I came home and found him feeding little Gracie lettuce through the bars :Luv:  They're all just big softies really!
-
Thats a great ramp! ;D
-
Her Royal Highness should be happy with that it's great and what a lovely man.
Mary

Great ramp ;D
Your challenge now is to get a photo of Her Majesty using it.

This could indeed prove a challenge. ;)

:wow: It looks great.

Very cool! :ok:

Blip has just used her ramp and cat flap for the first time
She was asking for a treat so I took her outside, came back in myself, shut the door and lay down on the floor next to the cat flap, holding it open, with a dollop of tuna in a bowl in my other hand. I passed the bowl through the cat flap a few times and Blip drew closer and closer to investigate. After a great deal of hesitation, Blip finally launched herself through the flap :wow:
So, her microchip has been learnt and the flap will now open inwards for her and no other cat. The next stage is to get her to use it regularly but as she's got the hang of it, after a fashion, within a few minutes, I am, provisionally and cautiously, optimistic. :crossed:
-
:wow: Well done Blip!
-
Clever girlie!! ;D
-
:cheer: Well done, Her Blipness!!!
So wonderful to know she'll be comfy getting in and out.
-
Clever Blip :wow:

Well someone has to be critical
Wheres Blips red carpet?
Brilliant ramp
-
Wheres Blips red carpet?
Look again - carefully - at the pictures, Teresa. You will see, admittedly not a red carpet but two beautiful yellow velvet cushions on the inside of one patio door. I bought these from John Lewis especially for Blip to place her regal paws on as she comes through the flap ;) :Luv:

Your friend has done a fab job on the ramp - if that's the fine job he makes on small items, I bet he's a great craftmsan.
I (ashamedly) will point out that I DO have moss growing all over my patio (well not moss but am getting that rather 'fetching green look' to the slabs). :innocent: :-[ A Job for the weekend I think .

I came in from work this evening and was not, as is usual, greeted by Blip at the front door. BECAUSE SHE WAS OUTSIDE IN THE BACK GARDEN! Which means that Blip went out through her cat flap all by herself for the first time this evening!
My heart soared like a hawk!

He is indeed.

What a very pefectly apt choice of wording, "heart soared like a hawk", I bet you were grinning from ear to ear - that's great news! ;D
-
Told you she is a clever girl!!! Well Done Blip! :Luv2:
-
Well done Blip cat. Lol@ Mark's picture
-
Blip is a clever little lady :Luv2:

I cannot take credit for it: I must attribute it to the scriptwriter(s) of Little Big Man who put it in the mouth of the native American chief. I have always admired it ;).
More good news: Blip took herself out through her ramp for her morning constitutional earlier :wow:
-
clever Blip!!
-
Well done, Blip! I'm still waiting for that photo ;) ;D
-
Sounds like she's got the hang of it now - I've never used one, come to think of it, neither have my cats over the years, they are so so cute esp when you see them popping in and out!
-
Well, I don't have a picture of Blip using her ramp, but OH managed to get this fuzzy picture on his Crackberry yesterday evening...
-
I now have a picture of Blip poised to exit through the flap and down the ramp if someone can resize it for me?
-
You know my email. ;)
-
Pic on its way from my personal email addy, JS :thanks:
-
Her Royal Blipness....
-
Was that a 'shall I/sharen't I?' moment? :Luv2:  :Luv2:
Mary
-
:Luv2: I'm glad she has gained her independence :)
-
What a gorgeous lady. :Luv2:
So pleased to see Blip so keen to get out.
-
:Luv2: I'm glad she has gained her independence :)
Not as glad as we are: she's stopped waking us up during the night to be let out ;D
-
:Luv2: that's great to hear!
-
 The photo of Blip - it looks like she's using it as her 'own personal little window' to spy from ! Love it! ;D Doesn't seem to have taken her long to realise it's benefits all round eh !
-
;D :Luv:
-
That's wonderful!! :Luv:
