Well, Poppy is settling in quite nicely. :)
She's quite a little character; as bold as brass, as slippery as a bar of wet soap and powered by Nitrous fuel injection... Did I mention she's barking mad as well? :naughty: :shy: :evillaugh:
Pearl isn't *too* horrified. We've had no outright hostility, just some growls and hisses and these are gradually decreasing in volume. Actually, Pearl is fine as long as Poppy doesn't get to close - she's a little wary of Poppy which is understandable, but Poppy doesn't seem to care, ploughing her own merry little furrow... :innocent:
Pearl just watches with an expression that seems to say: "the yoof of today, dey has no manners..." :shify:
Neither of them are left together without my being there, and besides, I don't dare leave Poppy around unsupervised - she'd trash the place... :-[
So far, she has learned to open the door of the room where I'm keeping her, trashed a pot plant, eaten Pearl's food, peed in Pearl's toilet tray, swung from the curtains and insisted on having a nap in the coal bucket...
Is this a kitten thing? Or is it a tortie thing? She's my first cat from both those categories...
Anyways, a couple of pics of the little madam for your delectation. :Luv2:

She's lovely. :)
I think although Asteroid was very spirited when she was a teeny kitten (as opposed to a year and a bit as she is now) and is quite a cheeky little lady, Darwin is definitely naughtier. Although that could be to do with the fact that Asteroid has chosen my partner as "her" person a little more than me and she responds to pretty much anything he asks her to do. ;)

Oh its all things Miss Beijing our naughty tortie who spent 5 days up a tree now thinks on day 3 inside she can go out again - failing that she is leading Jet, Turbo, Aztec and Maya our fab 4 kittens (same age as Poppy) in total chaos - this morning it was the shredder - so much fun to tip up and play with!
I think Beijing is having fun with company again having lost Archie earlier this year and sadly the kittens think she is a leader to be followed with no exceptions - the dogs water bowl was cleaning the lounge floor with the fab 5, 2 border collies and hubby with a mop!

She is gorgeous :Luv:
So glad Pearl is not to offended by her behaviour :)

Just discovered this thread and can confirm that the girls were (and occasionally still are) curtain climbers so perhaps a kitten rather than a tortie thing?
Think the cat tree helped to cut down the worst excesses of curtain climbing but wonder if Alsion noticed the tattered lining to the curtains in the spare bedroom when she stayed over? :-[
Anyway she's so very beautiful Witty :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

Me too ;D She is a cutie. Maybe it's a kitten thing, but if that's the case, be warned that some cats have a reeeeaaallly long kittenhood ;) (yes Mosi, I'm talking about you)

Now that Poppy more or less has the run of the house - except at night - she's calmed down a lot. OK, she's still as nosey as blazes, but thank goodness, she's starting to learn what "NO!" means.
The one thing I'm trying to teach her not to do is walk on the kitchen worktops and on the cooker. Furniture is fair game, but the kitchen surfaces and the dining room table are out of bounds to furry ones - especially since I've got an electric hob. She tried it again this morning, but when she saw me, she turned to jump down and knocked a large jar of coffee mate onto the floor. No damage done, but it scared the daylights out of her when it shattered - so hopefully that'll discourage her from being up there again.
But definitely I think Poppy is going to have a mischievous streak to her - though essentially she's a gentle little thing. :evillaugh:
She and Pearl are now starting to be ok with being in the same room - this afternoon they were sitting blinking at each other, which is a big step forward. Pearl is still a bit wary, but she's not as depressed about the situation as she was - bless her, she's a shy soul who doesn't really like change to her routine.
