Just before I went offshore, We noticed that Olivia was squinting from Her right eye
a few days later OH said She was still doing it, so I told Her to take Olivia to the Vet
She has been diagnosed with an eye Ulcer :(
Took her back today for a check up and the vet says it is trying to heal as there are
veins leading to the cornea and there is still light reactions from the eye, but she
is not out of the woods yet
She showed me what it looked like
looks like there is a large gouge from the centre of the cornea going across the eye
Please send Olivia healing vibes as I don't want her to lose her Eye :(

Thanx Everyone :shy:
No Gillian, she's not mentioned it yet, will ask next time I'm down ( 5 days time )
she is keeping in fine fettle and does not really seem phazed by it, still eating well and playing
it's just that she keeps her eye closed most of the time.
I still don't understand how this could have happened?? :(
I mean she doesn't get outside or anything where a bush could have scratched it??
I'll keep you all updated

They can actually scratch the eye themselves with their own claws. Ulcers can also be due to infections such as cat flu

Poor Olivia - sending loads of get well vibes!
-
Don't want to say too much until the vet check's Her again
but Her eye does seem better, and she is using it more ( especially when chasing after Her Bootlace :evillaugh: )
Here is a pic of Her last night Hogging the fire, tis blody caul here
note* she likes to lie on my trainers, so they have been strategically placed for her Benefit ;)

Well, she certainly looks happy in that picture!
-
Gorgeous and hope the eye is healing :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Hope her eye continues to show signs of improvement :Luv: Fab photo. Our Fred loves my trainers too :)
Probably a coincidence but I have a friend and one of her Persians has problems with eye ulcers. The cat concerned has had surgery twice over a couple of years and doing very well last I heard although he/she (sorry can't remember which of her 4 it is) does have eye drops on and off. Just wonder if it might be something more common with Persians having flatter faces that might get scratched more easily? None of my mates Persians are of the very flat face variety :-: Just a thought.

Olivia :Luv2: :Luv2:
:get well:
sending loads of get well vibes xx
-
Olivia is gorgeous - much too aristocratic for a pair of old trainers - you'll have to get her a pair of Jimmy Choo's
Trigger puts his front paws into any shoes or slippers I leave around - I wonder what the odour of smelly feet reminds them of :shify:
-
Keeping everything crossed that Olivia is on the mend ... Good luck at the vets xxxx
-
Everything crossed here that Olivia's eye is healing nicely! ;) :Luv2:
-
:thanks: for all the get well vibes Folks, I think they're working :)
Took Olivia back to the vet's today for a check up, the dye is not showing on the eye now so the outside has healed
but the eye is still damaged inside and it's going to be a slow healing process :tired:
still to carry on with the eye drops and go back again on the 30th Dec
still keeping fingers crossed her eye will soon be back to normal
-
I wonder what the odour of smelly feet reminds them of :shify:
Glad your baby is on the mend Stuart :)
Kylie has a foot fetish as well  - although I would like to point out that I do not have smelly feet and never have :snooty:
She also loves sniffing eyeballs and ears and purrs like mad
-
Glad Miss Olivia is improving - the Clan are sending good eye wishes especially Aztec who has come out in an eye issue like Olivia - he is one of our SSPCA feral kittens but is nearly tame and getting eye drops from Daddy - Mummy needs her fingers to type with!
-
:) Great news Stuart, keeping fingers crossed xx
-
Thats really good news -hope the gorgeous girls eye continues to heal and get better :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
glad it is healing, Tilly is always scratching her eyes, I think we've had three lots of drops this year - soon as she starts winking I get on it it!! I suppose once the external bit has healed then its only a matter of time
-
Good news, and hope all this good healing continues ;D :Luv2:
-
Great to hear she is on the mend! :Luv2:
-
Thats good to hear! :Luv2:

Thats really good and may the healing continue ;D
Happy Chrissy to Olivia and you and wife ;D

Just thought I'd give you all an Update on Olivia's Peeper
I am so Happy to inform you all the Her eye is now well and truly on the mend :wow: she is back to using both of them and she looks much better with both eye's open, than with one shut all the time :Luv2:
although it's still a bit foggy, it is getting clearer day by day :briggin:
We are still undecided how this happened ? did she do it Herself ?? another explanation we have now came up with is that My niece ( who is only six ) ....how shall i put this...... "is a bit rough" when playing with
Olivia,my sister is forever telling Her to be Careful when "Thrashing" da Bird or Da Mousie around, usually while watching the TV at the same time  I'm sure you all get the picture !!
needless to say, in future, the wand and all other potential injury inducing cat toys shall now be removed from the vicinity >:(
I'm not saying she's clumsy, but ..... there was that time we were away for a weekend and came home to an expensive Ornament ( Penguin ) lying on the floor with a Broken wing
(OH) Carol first turned round and said it was Hamish or Misty that knocked it off the fireplace
I pointed out that the ornament had been there for over a year with no problems, and I asked, how many times did she see Hamish and Misty walking on the fireplace??........answer = Never
I did ask my Sister if there had been an accident, but she said No........I have my Doubt's :sneaky:
anyway with a wee bit of super glue and it was right as rain again :)
thanks again for all you get well/positive vibes for Olivia :Luv: :)
-
Glad to hear that, she must feel better on herself too it must have irritated the poor girl :)
-
