Title: Mr Mogg - a Brave Boy needs a Home

Mr Mogg has been through the wars and was in a very bad way when rescued, but is a real character as you can see. He is looking for a rural home and may need to live outside as he has done before. He has a slight paralasys at his bottom which leaves him occasionally incontinent.

He loves the dogs but unfortunately the other cats in the house still are not accepting him and its getting very stressful. He is registered with the CPL and can be found at

Hi

I don't think the cats protection have stressed his bottom problem enough on their web site, I am really not expecting him to be homed in a house, I think he would be exceptionally lucky if some kind person just so happen to see his picture and feel sorry for him, also their summary of the cause of his problem is wrong, it was not the amputation that caused the nerve damage, he had obviosly been caught in a trap, it broke his tail and all the struggling to get free caused the nerve damage, As a result of this sometimes a little bit of pooh can be left at his bottom when he exits the litter tray, he his unaware, and it can fall off. He also has a broken canine, so I think he was swiped a kick before the trap was released. So he definately deserves a lot of love,

He is so good natured, which is why it is difficult to home him, because most people that want an outside cat
just want it to be there to catch mice, and don't want to be bothered giving it any attention. I think he would enjoy having somewhere to hide out during the day, get a bit of food and cuddles in the morning, and he
would like to go out at night to hunt.

I only ever saw him at night when it was dark, he is frightened of people until he hears a kind voice, then he will trust that person and go to them.

I have never known him to swipe. When I discovered his condition a year ago, he didn't put up any sort of fight at all, when I was putting him in a carrier. He had ringworm, didn't claw or bite when I was stuffing pills down his throat, he really is a lovely natured boy, which is why I am trying to be patient and find the right home for him.

I was trying to get a photo of Kimi cleaning him, he lies belly up and bares his throat, and Kimi works at him with her teeth ' cleaning ' him, but every time I pick up the camera she stops! They get on so well, I think he is sturdy enough to take anything Kimi throws at him ! She has always been a bit of a pest with the cats, but he is so tough, not only can he take it, but he seems to revel in it.

I will leave you to post his picture, as I am a computer dunce ( It's my daughter or husband that sends photos and links for me) I think CPL thought the one of him sitting in an unusual cat pose on the sofa would attract attention, he often sits like that, my son says he looks like he should have a glass of brandy in one paw and a cigar in the other !

Hope he gets an inside home he shouldnt have to live outside poor boy.

Like Gill, I wish I was in a position to help. He sounds - and looks - like a real darling. I think he's a Winston Churchill of cats - a sort of Elder Statesman kinda chap.

Good luck to Mr Mogg. I really hope he gets a home very soon with exactly the right environment for his needs. I'd love to keep up with his story, Sam.

Post by: Millys Mum on April 08, 2007, 16:09:50 PM: He reminds me of my Mr George, its so sad that in 3 years no one can overlook the odd bit of poo that can drop off, a change of diet to make him more solid would probably help.
An incontinent cat would be a lot more difficult to clean up after.
Its cats like him i would take when i manage to get my own home.

Unfortunately as much as we would love to help I know CP would not consider us as we are to far from Ayrshire and we have already been turned down by the CP in our area for fostering wether it was short or longterm due to our numbers. My ferals bar our escapee Rio who is still sitting on top of the trap and our current strays Tyson and Cooper not yet neutered but live in the garage outside and mix well with our lot - no fighting and our remaining dog.

My ferals all bar the above 3 live both as inside only and some are now so good they are indoor/outdoor and in every night. Same with the domestics and raggie as well. A bit of hiss or miss we live with as Bertie is blind and depends which way he enters the grit box lol sometimes headfirst and the rest is on the floor but at 21.5 he is allowed the odd mistake or in his mind who forgot to turn the grit box round.

I also have to watch bringing in adult cats as we have had issues with a couple who made Berts life miserable as they beat him up and also some of the youngsters are very terratorial inside and out so this can cause issues till we have peace talks.

If it had been sooner I wasn't working for 8 months but am now at work full time so couldn't be here to play referee when things weren't quite working out.

Its a smallholding with ducks and sheep, they need a mouser and liked the look of Moggs

It is away along a single track road in the hills with miles of nothing
much but sheep. The couple are really nice, and although he has an allergy, he was petting and rubbing at Mogg, so Mogg was actually very relaxed and not frightened at all.

I think it will be moggy heaven. I took him there yesterday, and I was amazed at the feeling of total relief I felt.

I got a phone call yesterday from Moggs family. He has settled really well, he is now free to go out and in his little bothy, and has obviously chosen to stay around. Mr D said he has found a few dead mice which he can only attribute to Mr Mogg. They are delighted with him as he's friendly enough to potter about with them but obviously takes his job seriously !!!!

So all in all, couldn't be better for him, and the relief from my cats is tangible-- a lot less stress for me too"
