Title: Toerag of Ardoch
Post by: Liz on November 16, 2006, 12:50:26 PM
On 2 April 2006 marked a strange time in our lives its 7 years since I lost my darling Toerag to a speeding car and he was only 7 years old. As long with him as without.

Toerag came to me with his sister Sweetie who is now celebrating 14 years of devoted slave ownershipb as 5 week old kittens and they started my complete devotion to black cats - with other colours for my rainbow family.

Toerag was a beautiful black boy who wieghed in at around 22lbs at full fighting weight, he was a lean mean cuddle machine who only fought when he had to as his size seemed to put off most of the other neighbourhood cats! The exception to this was Sweetie who ruled the roost and still does with a paw of black velvet steel.

He endured a marriage breakup and 3 years of devoted slavery by his Mummy and then got the best Daddy in the whole world in Robin who only had 4 years with his first son. Sweetie and Toerag were Robins first experience of fur kids and they added to our family by allowing a six month old feral to join us for feeding and then devoted hero worship - Tiger is now Alpha male and has developed all his brothers traits of size and hugginess and it took him a while to step in to his brothers shoes and he still looks over his shoulder should a rumble appear for his bro!

Toerag lived his 9 lives to the full and his claim to fame being he was the first cat operated on before our vets hospital was even officially opened and he made the press with the vets.

He became our first big loss to the Rainbow bridge and this day 7 years ago was Mothers Day and it was heartbreaking for us as his daddy found him on the road on his way to work. He was brought home and our then residents - Sweetie, Tiger, the dogs Breeze and Jazz and our first feral adoptees Lima and Clio were all allowed to say good bye to their big brother, their protector and our precious son.

I like to think he protected his kid brother Tiger the following year when he to was hit by a car on the same day but survived but lost his tail, think Toerag put in a guiding paw!

He was cremated and now resides in our bedroom of our new home with his brothers Moose and Haggis and Hissy Holly until the new garden of remembrance is done - all were cremated we moved urns only!
I like to think that his loss has been that other more unfortunate cats haved gained a loving home since there are now more furkids in the clan and more have passed through if only for a short time, foster care.

So on this day my darling boy we love and miss you and know you will be waiting for us with your brothers in paws Haggis and Moose.

Toerag Wilson - our precious son

Well my darling Toerag another year has gone and we still feel your loss enormously, 8 years my darling boy since you became my first Bridge kid.

Your sister Sweetie is leading a motley crew now numbering 38 and even now a spritley 16 is still going strong and has me wrapped around her paw and can do no wrong and she is still bopping Tiger and anyone else when the notion strikes her usually fior no apparent reason something never change!

So although a couple of days late due to work commitments we still think and talk of you often and are sure you are leading the Clan Cats  - Haggis, Moose, Hissy Holly and darling Bertie and your big doggie brother Breeze a merry dance at the Bridge.

So my darling boy longer without you than with the pleasure of your company we remeber you with laughter and tears and above all the enduring love of your parents and the siblings who knew you and those who are compared to you in a fleeting moment we send love and higs to you and hope that all is well with you

Toerag of Ardoch the Clan Cats first leader and our first precious son lost to the bridge :Luv2: :(

Well my darling Toerag another year has passed and we remember you today on your Bridge day, 11 years have passed and we still love and miss you every day

This year you have a very special person with you reunited with HRH Princess Sweetie your sister who led the Clan for a further 11 years together again also with Tiger the 3 founding members of the Clan cats at the Bridge causing chais like you all could

So through the laughter and the tears we think of you our darling boy forever our first son and a leader of the Clan cats, many have joined us here and many have joined the Clan contingent at the Bridge

We still talk of you often and for the first time both Daddy and I are together on this day

I am lucky as in my upstairs study I have a photowall of those gone to the bridge and those on a mission without permission and I talk to them most days whilst there are still tears there is more laughter and the legacy they left being Clan cats and letting us adopt the needy and the ones not for normal homes makes me smile and laugh along the way just grateful that each and every Clan cat has graced my life some for many years and others just for a fleeting moment but all leave pawprints in my heart
