I am struggling to decide on a pet name for Snow and need to decide soon if I'm to ask his breeders to start calling him something else.
I'm currently leaning towards Orion but I have put up a few others I like or feel free to suggest something else for my lovely big boy.
-
Our fluffy Phoenix has voted for his own name ;D
-
I like Orion.
-
i like snow ;D
-
Don't let this put you off - I had a rat called Orion, and he was the friendliest, cuddliest rat I remember ever sharing my home with. I love that name, but do like Snow too. :)

i really like snow :Luv:

I chose Snow - but I quite like Snow Flake :Luv2:

I've just voted for Phoenix :shy:

I'd go for anything other than snow! I no longer like colour related names like smokey and snowy wish i knew i would end up keeping tabitha cos wouldnt have chosen that lol
Kingston
Bennett
Ajax
Andronicus
Theo
Luca
Fionnbharr i like the different spelling to finbar
Snow patrol are irish/scottish so id look for a name thats popular in either country or maybe take Quinn after the drummer ;D
-
ok - this might be a seriously daft question cos well... it me asking! but is he actually called 'snow' ...or the.... danish/foreign word for snow? :shify:
i like rather like quinn. although i like snow i do think its rather like star... but then again, i think thats maybe just me being me!
-
He's being called 'Snow' by them Hannah. It's so hard choosing a name when I haven't met the kitten! All I have to go on for a name is he has a super temper and he's apparently really huge which was where the possibility of Aloeus came from as it means 'Father of Giants' which hopefully he will be!
-
Just looked up names meaning white for a boy - here goes:
Bai (means "white")
Candido (means "white,pure")
Elgin (means noble, white, high minded")
Finbar (means "white or fair head")
Fingal (means "the fair stranger")
Finian (means "fair or white")
Finnigan (means "white or fair")
Fintan (means "white fire")
Galvin (means "brilliantly white")
Gannon (means "the little blonde or fair one")
Heimdall (means "white God")
Hotah (means "white")
Kachada (means "white man")
Laban (means "white")
Mackinley (means "son of the White Warrior, Learned Ruler")
Penwyn (means "the fair haired one")
Any useful ones in there? :)

I'd go for Snowball or Snowflake too. After all he comes from the land of the cold and snow.
-
I no longer like colour related names....
I never did in the way that people seem to call all black cats "Sooty", white cats "Snowy" and grey cats "Smokey" (sorry to anyone who used those names!) but I do like it when it's a word meaning something appropriate from a different culture. (I used the words Nameva and Impuku as names for the spiny mice.....they mean "thorny" and "mouse" in Afrikaans and Zulu. ;))
-
I like this one ...
CELESTE: English form of French Céleste, meaning "heavenly."
-
How about Daz?!! - yes, cheesy I know, but kinda nice?!! :)
-
LOL Gillian :evillaugh:
I like this one to...
http://www.babynology.com/meaning-haku-m35.html
Haku, meaning pure as white snow :)

Orion means "The Hunter" and is in reference to a giant huntsman in Greek mythology. I believe he was a hero (not 100% on that as I'm not up on Greek mythology). Of course the constellation of Orion is I think one of the largest and most recognisable - it is three bright stars in a row. White is a bright colour.
Sooooooooooo a big white cat = Orion :evillaugh:
I'll get my coat now .......
-
How about Daz?!! - yes, cheesy I know, but kinda nice?!! :)
Makes me think of a chav, unfortunately!

I still like Yeti! :innocent:
-
I like Fram, the name of the ship which took Amundsen's Norwegian expedition to the South Pole
-
How about.......... supercalafragalisticexpialidocious ????  :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

That's me sold as I have no doubt when he comes over here and we've built the big catrun he will become a giant hunstman and he will be a bright star I'm sure! Tbh I just heard the name in a film and went "ooo I wonder if that would be a good name" :-[:evillaugh:
Now to email his breeders and ask if they'd mind calling him Orion as I'd imagine trying to get him used to a new name at 11-12 months would be impossible!
I did love the suggestion of Yeti though :evillaugh:
Just looked at a map of Europe and the poor boy is going to get a nice shock at the difference between winter temps in the Netherlands and the winter temps here I think looking at how far south he is living at the mo!!
