................A little tabby boy !
thoughts ?????
-
What are your thoughts? How do you think your other cats will cope? Do you feel ready to take on another cat?
-
having just taken on two tabby ferals Aztec and maya :Luv2:my heart says yes if you are ready to be welcomed back to the world of the kitten chaos you have been offered
-
My cats will be fine....I have the best cats in the world, I could bring 20 cats in and they would just get on with it
but I am trying to replace "her" though JS :'(
that wouldnt mean that i wouldnt love this one...and it would have the best home in the world
Oh I dunno ......
dunno
dunno
dunno
-
My boys helped heal my heart after losing Tiggy, maybe this little boy could do the same for you?
I know lots of yours are Issey's babies and littermates - have they ever been introduced to a new family member? If not how do you think they would accept him? I guess the older ones would be OK as they accepted Issey's babies :)
-
You can never replace, but you can accept a new one into your heart.
Maybe this little one was sent to help you heal.

Issey's babies arnt the eldest.....Lulu, Lala, Freddy and Tramp came after them :evillaugh:
Ummm will have to sleep on this one ;)
-
Well that's one obstacle out of the way then :) I don't think you can ever replace a loved one, I'll never stop loving and missing Tiggy but my heart could literally burst with how much I love my boys too :Luv: I was worried that I wouldn't bond with them and resent them for 'replacing' her - how wrong could I have been :Luv2:
Keep us updated with your decision.....
-
Michelle in your heart you aren't replacing anyone, also this little tabby is a boy and obviously needs someone to love him
Ours accept whatever waifs and strays we bring home with little aggro apart from the kittens wanting to steal Sweeties saucer in the evening she merely places paw on head of kitten till she's finished eating!
Sometimes a newbie can brighten the dark days and help create wonderful new memories to go with the ones you already have
The Clan Cats say if its right then do it afterall our parents gave us 2 puppies in 2 years so we could have our own pets!!!!
-
I was scared about that when we lost Tobes. Our little bundle of torti trouble came to live with us less than a week after we lost him, and initially it wasn't meant to be permanent. But my partner fell for her.......
I felt guilty for a while, but it's true - you can't replace any of them. A newcomer can help to shift your focus away from your loss a little, but the babe you lost will always be in your heart. Nothing can change that.
-
I think someone who loses an only cat needs to be cautious
I had a Siamese girl for 14 years, and when she died I got, after a few months, a male kitten, but I found it very difficult to bond with him, because I really wanted, and needed, the companionship of an older cat, which I had had for so long, and missed so much
but now I have 3 adult cats I would not hesitate to take on a kitten if I lost one, as I would not see it as a replacement, any more than the other two survivors would be replacements
-
I simply say "go for it"... You have a big cat family Michelle so your heart is open to many, no one can replace Issey.... She has a part of you that you cant give away! ;)
-
I've never viewed any cats I've taken on as replacements for the one that has gone before as they have such individual personalities it is impossible to compare.
But, only you would know how you will feel about taking in another one......but if you don't take him, where will he end up?
-
A newcomer can help to shift your focus away from your loss a little, but the babe you lost will always be in your heart. Nothing can change that.
I agree 100%.
-
You can never replace another cat cos they are all individual characters and you have to be sure that a new kittne is right for you at this moment in time.
I only had one cat and for me getting Misa and Sasa was absolutely what I needed because the house was terrible without Kocka and new that within 24 hrs.
-
-
No other cat will ever replace Issey as she will always be in your heart along with the wonderful memories you have of her :Luv2:
But this little one is in need and i know your heart is big enough to accept him into your home and life so i say go for it and make some new memories to go with all your others
-
Its not going to happen :'(
Hubby is being a :censored:
He started about it last night and today he is in his Hitler mood (about everything) ...and I'm just to tired to fight him on it atm
:'( :'( :'(
-

Had you decided to take the little guy on? If so, wait until your hubby is in a less "Hitler" frame of mind and have a chat.
-

Men really are the limit (exceptions of course ) :evillaugh:
-
What could he do if the little fella just "walked" in :shify:
You know whats strange tho....I have always found with my cats, when kittens they have always been for my OH. Maybe this little guy could win him over :sneaky:
-
Hope you and OH have been able to compromise in some way!
-
Shhhhhhhhhh
going to pop and just have a look at the kitten tomorrow
-
:shify: Oh yes just a little peek wont harm! :sneaky: ;)
-
:shify: ;)
-
If you think your other cats will cope, then I would go for it. You aren't replacing anyone, like others have said, but a newbie helps. I wasn't sure about getting another cat after Magpie died, and was worried I wouldn't bond with Mosi, but I can't imagine being without the precious little boy now.
-
Hope's you is having a looky now! :shify: :shoosh: and all that! :sneaky:
-
Did the mission to visit involve you taking the cat box just in case :sneaky:
-
Did you follow mums advice of "you only look with your eyes not your hands" :shify:
-
well???
-
Michelle, don't hold out on us. How did the visit go....? ;)
-
Did the mission to visit involve you taking the cat box just in case :sneaky:
There is always a carrier in the boot of the car :evillaugh:
Anyway....I didn't go :(
I thought husband had mellowed about it but he hasn't....don't know why he is being like this :censored:
-
.
-
....They always do. ;)
Where'd your post go? :scared:
-
:(
-
Oh hunnie, just seen this thread
Sorry hubby is being so difficult
Maybe you need to subtly work on him, then he'll come round :shify:
When I lost Max, finding Poot was the absolute best thing which could have happened for me, you don't stop loving those you've lost, but if your heart is big enough to love another, then helping another babe in need is a perfect solution
-

-

Noting like that :slap: :evillaugh:
ANYONE KNOW HOW LONG FRONTINE TAKES TO WORK ??????
OMG HE IS CRAWLING ALIVE,,,,, AND MY SON JUST HAD ONE ON HIM (never had feas before )
-
If its the spot on it takes a while but if its the spray they start dying immediately but still takes 24 hrs I think to clear
-
IT WAS SPOT ON GILL >:(
I can't this...it better start working soon
is there anything else i can do ?
-
Yay so glad you got him! ;D
-
Have you got a comb you could try and get rid of them that way
My little kitties were crawling when I got them too, it was horrible. The vet used spray frontline on both and that seemed to work pretty quick.
-
Only flea comb him now you have used spot on, cos you cant give anything else
-
They will start to paralyse after a few hours but 24hrs to clear fully, combing them out would be your best bet and also get a spray for the house.
Have a bowl of water with a bit of liquid soap/fairy in it and put them in there, they will sink or pop them between your nails
-
Shame they didn't use capstar - I think it takes 15 mins?
Anyway, he is gorgeous Michelle :Luv2:
-
Capstar doesnt seem to be widely used, i have read of it freaking cats out as the fleas die so maybe thats why :um:

Have just given him a good comb, put them in a cup of boiling water !
Have never seen so many fleas in my life, he is asleep next to me and they are still running everywhere :censored:
-
He is completely adorable!!
sorry about the fleas, but the should die off soonish its just a yucky wait.
-
He's a stunner Michelle :blow kiss: Reminds me of a baby Lu :Luv2:
Capstar is the same as Johnson's for fleas (same active ingredient) so might be worth popping out to the petshop tomorrow morning - check with your vet but I'm sure it can be used at the same time as a spot on and kills fleas on him within 15 mins.
-
:Luv2:
So cute!
-
OMG :wow: What a Sweetie !!
:Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
-
Just in case Gill still can't see him, have attached a picture.
Any improvement on the flea situation, Michelle? (They're horrible little things.....)
-
:Luv: :Luv:
-
Awww his gorgeous :Luv: :Luv:
-
Whats a little cutie :Luv2:

Oh JS i sat and picked them out all night, he was running alive with them....I gave up counting at 43 (i reckon there were close on 80)
He is playing atm so when he has his morning sleep i'll have another look at him
-
I had to bath Ollie when I got him as he was riving with fleas, it got most of them out :)
-
Poor wee man. Two kittens I took off of the Tree site (and rehomed with someone I knew would spoil them rotten ;)) were the same. Absolutely covered. They had mild anaemia because of it and I was told it's a good job they were removed from the house as it could've got serious enough to kill them. (I had to report the guy I got them from as I knew there were still two kittens there probably fighting the same thing.)
How's he doing other than having uninvited guests?
-
He is doing fine -
He slept through the night, has eaten well....found and used the litter tray
At the moment he is trying to eat my Ugg boots, he is so full of life :evillaugh:
He is a feisty little wotsit too...runs up to the other cats hisses in their faces smacks them on the nose and runs away
ouch and the little b.ugger has just bitten my toes while i was typing this
-
Yay! So glad you got him Michelle..... Put it this way, that comment I made on FB about your age, plus a pet lip Im afraid I would of had to give in too! :evillaugh: :Luv2:
He is lovely, hope the hanger's on are gone soon!
-
Aww, how cute is he! Sorry about his little stowaways, I found one on Amber once when they were due for frontlining and it was gross, I can't imagine picking nearly 50 off such a little thing!
-
He's just such a handsome little guy Michelle :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:. Hope he's clear of the fleas toot sweet :shify:
-
At the moment he is trying to eat my Ugg boots,
Thought you didn't have the Ugg bug :evillaugh: Comfy arnt they ;D

Wouldn't mind seeing a few more pics :pic:

I think most kittens are feisty....they've haven't really learnt self preservation yet!
Here's a link to the two kittens I mentioned previously:
