Since Grandma has died she has been awfully lonely and lost for the 2 days a week that she spent doing things for Grandma.
My sister is also moving out in December as she has just brought her own flat.
My Mum keeps saying she wants some company (Dad clearly isn't enough for her  ) I've suggested a pet, I think my Dad would be more keen on a dog but I think my Mum is more keen on a cat.
BUT they have an immaculate house and I can't see them doing litter trays. I thought maybe an older cat as opposed to a kitten for them but I don't know.

They would still need a litter tray for an older cat hun, maybe a discussion is needed and see who has the strongest wants for a cat! ;)

Would your mum cope with a hooded litter tray, or a self-cleaning one? They are pretty expensive mind you! I have problems with litter tracking, but I don't have a mat to catch it. Don't have any problems with smells since Noah stopped having Felix: a dog would still have to do some poos in the garden and I think their poos are way worse than a cats! There are so many adult cats in rescues that they'd be spoiled for choice; if one was being fostered you'd know if the cat was prone to scratching in the wrong place.

i dont think they should get any animal unless they both want to and understand that animals needs and that its for life!
